The day has been good, but I came up with a new idea for something I want to make with clay and I don't think there's anyone I can ask for how to do it, since it's not a technique I've seen done before, so I'm gonna have to experiment until I get the effect I want
Yeah, I was just thinking about the best way to get the effect I want, now I'll have to make some tests, but I recently got an itty bitty kiln so I don't have to fire my monster just to test new stuff, so it's good
Add a groggy texture to the surface of some plant pots, but also I want to color the surface, and stain is expensive, so I only want to use the colored texture on the very surface, not all the way through the pot. Most people want very smooth surfaces when they add a slip, engobe, or do terra sigillata. I always want something nubbly and rough, instead. I think it's more fun and organic looking, which is right for what I want, but the roughness does complicate things a bit, which is why I'll definitely need to make some tests...and I need to buy more clay, since I'm out of the kind I want to use for this particular item

Currently recovering from large amounts of PTSD. I'll post when I can, please ping for replies. Things are very difficult for me right now.
@Shadami: not really, since the texture comes from tiny rocks in a thin slurry of clay, rather than built up layers of clay, and ideally, the surface will chemically bond to the main body of the piece, rather than be a frosting on top

Oh wow, good luck trying to figure out how to make that effect on your clay made stuffs. O: It is waaaay out of my element, so I can’t even give advice, but I’d like the see the finished result if you do succeed. ^^

I checked my inventory and I haven’t received Vyc’s item yet. I’m also waiting for Vaughn’s item to be available to buy in stores. This might be a busy day for staff since they had a lot of stuff to do (advent prizes, uploading new crates, etc), so I don’t mind waiting a bit longer.
