In my case it's because of some insecurities that I have. Like people see 'Another Movie Addict' and sometimes I feel like I'm supposed to like high brow artsy films. And sometimes I do. But my favorites tend to be technically bad movies.

@Another Movie Addict: Oh yeah, I get that!
You kinda put yourself in a movie category with your username.
I personally love really terrible (to critics) scifi movies a lot.
The Water World, Stargate, Fifth Element, Tank Girl, Serenity...
But just becuase critic don't like it, or it's not "technically" good
doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable!

@Lina: And of course your tastes change over time, not just over years. What I was into a few months ago I might not like as much now. So my favorites are always in flux. Right now Frozen II is in my top 5.

@Another Movie Addict: I haven't seen frozen 2 yet!
Honestly, I don't think I saw more than one or two movies that came out in 2019.
I'm so behind! >.<

@Lina: Frozen II is so good, and kind of better than the first. I really enjoyed Elsa's character arc. Also saw Avengers: End Game for my birthday. Which was way awesome. But I didn't do a lot of theater watching this year. I have been catching up as things are released to Xfinity and Netflix. XD I bought Spider-Man Far From Home the minute it became available.

@Another Movie Addict: I went to see a Wrinkle in Time for my birthday because I love the book,
but was kind of disappointed. I guess I usually am with movies based off books though. >.<
That I think was my only theater trip. Otherwise I've just had Netflix.

@Lina: >w> Wrinkle in Time was so boring to sit through. My friend made me watch it. Thank gods for booze. Granted I forced her to watch a really bad horror movie called Banana Splitz. Based on a kids of the same name. It was absolutely awful. I also watched a lot of silent films in 2019. >w>

@Another Movie Addict: I've never liked any silent movies except Nosferatu.
But I'm a sound and color snob I guess.
and english snob, I almost never watch foreign films.

@Lina: Silent films make it easier to watch foreign stuff. Lol and I only recently gotten into them. I like to explore how far we've come from then. Some of the tricks they used, we're still using. The first time a person appeared on screen with themselves was way back in the 20s! My favorite thing is stories. So I seek out stories in all their forms. Musicals, books, movies, ect ect.

@Another Movie Addict: the last few years I feel like I’m always doing something while I watch tv or movies, so I’m not picking things that you need to pay attention to. I’m always drawing and coloring now, so the tv is mostly for sound these days.

@Lina: I do that too. Like I enjoy having shows in the background when I build things in Minecraft, or while I'm playing WoW. When I'm doing that it's not something that needs all of my attention usually. Though with Minecraft I can watch and play at the same time. For WoW I put on documentaries.
