Does the [img*]image url here[/img*] not work in posts? If so, that's a bug, and you'll have to make a bug report.

You want the direct image link of the image you want want to post. Put it in between [ img ] and [ /img ] with no spaces in the brackets.
Best to upload to imgur first to get the direct url if you don't have it already. The direct link will end in png jpg gif etc

When you upload to imgur, like @Slytherclaw: suggested, there is also a button with "give share links". When you click on that, you see 4 options. Click on the line below bccode and it will be automatically copied.
