"It is, but we should be all right here. Have been for the past few places we've been." She added.

"And I think we're getting closer, as well." She added. "Not entirely sure where we're going, but I have an idea. Even if vague."

"All right." he replied as they checked in.

The place seemed... not the best. There was a definite aura of seediness to it, and it seemed like the longer they stayed her, the worse it would get for them.

"..." he was silent as they were making their way to their room, before looking around.

"Eesh." he mumbled.

"This place seems... not so great." he commented.

Rylie just sighed as she slid the key into the door and opened it.

"Hopefully you sleep well, here. Or at least well enough." She then said as they entered.

"Sorry it's a rather... bad place. Here's hoping that we don't have any issues before we get out of here tomorrow."

Ash shook his head again.

"It's fine." he replied.

"I've seen a lot worse." he chuckled.

Later that night, Ash was sleeping in one of the beds, and Rylie was reading a book, when they both heard hurried footsteps, which stopped at their door, followed by frantic knocking.

"Huh!?" Ash exclaimed.

"What's going on!?"

Rylie was silent.

"Not sure..." She said quietly before getting to her feet, setting her book aside as she did so. She made her way over to the door and opened it, wondering what was going on.

"How may I help you?" She asked the one on the other side of the door.

When she looked at the man, it looked like he was gravely injured. There was what looked to be blood all over his shirt.

"I need help..." he said, before pausing.

"Wait... hold on..." he mumbled, looking at her.

"I think... no... wait, maybe I..." he stammered, before shaking his head, and looking like he was ready to fall over.

"Ohhhh..." he groaned.

"Oh, lightheaded..." he said.

"Do you have medical training?" he asked her.

"Or do you know anyone around that can help me?" he asked further.

Rylie was silent before getting under his arm so that he didn't collapse.

"I can do very basic stuff." She said before making her way into the room with him.

"Ash! Get me some hot water, please!" She called, knowing the basics for cleaning, at least.

"Okay!" Ash responded, getting up.

"Th-thank you." the man stammered.

"Let me show you my appreciation." he went on, before smirking ominously.

Then, before Rylie had any chance to react, the man took a pin out from his pocket... a golden pin... and jabbed it forward, sticking the point into Rylie's chest. It was just a pin... but it was gold.

And it had pierced her, ever so slightly.

"RYLIE!" Ash yelled, before the man shot a bolt of electricity from his finger into his chest.

Rylie hadn't even had a chance to react before she felt the effects of the pin. As soon as it started, she sank to her knees as her form solidified more completely than it had been before. She was always solid as needed, but there was a bit of a definiteness to it now.

"A... Ash..." She managed to get out after a moment, not entirely sure what it was taht she could do here. She couldn't do much, and she knew that.

As Ash felt the bolt from him, the man just laughed, thinking that the teen was down for the count.

"Good." Was all he said before focusing on Rylie.

Ash collapsed to his knees as well, and then to his front, as the man just chuckled.

He then stood up, clearly not injured, and made his way into the room, shutting the door behind him.

He proceeded to pick Rylie up, and carried her to one of the beds, dropping her on it.

"I saw you and your horse speed by, you know." he told her.

"Was not easy to follow you." he said.

"But I'll tell you right now, you are about to help me make my dreams come true." he added with a sinister smile.

By the time he said that, Rylie growled, having overcome the initial shock of the gold's presence.

"I don't doubt it was difficult." She then said before kicking him, and hard. She had no idea how he knew about what Gold did to her, but she also realised that if he knew that, then he'd never give her his name. Which was unfortunate, would be so much easier if he would.

"ash!" She called to the teen, but didn't take her eyes off of the man."[/b]

Ash was silent and still for a moment, before she saw him twitch. And then twitch again. She could see he could move, and was slowly trying to get to his feet.

Meanwhile, the man had been caught off guard by the kick, and was knocked off the bed. However, it was nothing more than a momentary setback for him, as he grabbed a gold chain from his pocket, and tossed it onto her stomach.

"Don't fight." he said, before looking at Ash.

"...wow." he muttered.

"Little guy's more durable than I gave him credit for." he said.

"...I suppose I ought to fix that." he then sighed, sounding bothered, but in a more annoyed way.

Rylie tried to grab the pillow next to her to deflect the gold that was coming, but she wasn't able to. She ended up taking the chain to the stomach, was he'd been intending, before he turned toward Ash. As he approached the teen, he found himself kissing the floor, as a whip wrapped around his ankle suddenly.

"Don't you dare." She said, her voice flickering slightly, as she was still acclimating to the sudden change - adding more was never fun for her - but she had a drive to protect Ash, so that's what she was going to do.

The man was clearly dazed when he hit the floor, and NOT happy about it.

"Why, you..." he snarled, looking over towards Rylie.

"You've got more spunk than I gave you credit for." he said, slowly getting to his feet.

"But I am NOT giving up." he told her.

"After all, I've always had a thing for those like you." he continued.

"And this is a... golden... opportunity." he added with a snarky laugh.

"Besides, what is this little gutter urchin to YOU?" he then asked her.

"Why do YOU care?"

"Besides... he's not one to piss off." She added with a smirk.

"Ash, are you all right?" She asked., not looking toward the teen.

"Y-yeah... I... I think so." was his response.

"then unleash your bloodline on this degenerate, please."was all Rylie said in repsonse.

"Yeah." he said.

"What!?" the man declared.

"Now listen here, you little-" he started to threaten Ash, before the rune shot out, and covered his body... but didn't reach Rylie.

"Wh-what?" he asked, suddenly quieter.

"I hate this rune." Ash said.

"But it IS useful..." he admitted.

"Come on, Ash." She said with a sigh.

"Get your things. We're getting out of here." She added, knowing that they obviously needed to. But also knowing that alarm bells would likely be ringing because of the rune's presence.

Ash struggled to control the rune, before he forced it back into him, and then man collapsed, unconscious.

"Yeah." he then said.

"I'll get the gold off of you." he told her.

"Are you all right?" he then asked.

"I didn't think something like this would happen..." he went on.

"I didn't think someone would try and attack you..."

"Thank you." She added before sighing and glancing out the window.
