The Dark Church

Lo! Hear the knell of the bells!
Upon the desolate hill the church doth stand
A testament to cultures long past, it looms over the land as a grim shade mocking the city with its dark glory
With flying buttresses cracking and weathered by tempests and time
Gargoyles stand as silent eternal sentinels. .. waiting for their masters return
Appearances deceive as although the appears empty, strange shadowy aeons flit and flicker across the empty or broken windows like dark ethereal candle flames
Wind howls through the pipes of the aging rusted organ like the sorrow filled moans of some abyssal creature
Storms of dust, animal bones and other debris is all that remains of the once pristine pews
The ghosts of archaic practices and false blessings long since passed leave their sickly imprints upon the chapel
With scorched walls and ruined doors the church is naught but a monument of centuries of suffering and evil
No living being will ever cross the threshold to this portal to the abyss
This church will forever be seen as a beacon of lies, anger, pain, sorrow, fear and darkness
A vile blight for those who remember the darkness, the hate, the rage it infected and gave birth to.
