Forums Entertainment Youtube vs Spotify?

Voltie — She/Her Posted 5 years ago ( 2020/04/17 22:26:53 )
I've been finding myself going to Youtube more so lately even if I want to just play some music. I know Spotify is great, but I just feel like there's more choices of music in Youtube still.

What do you guys think?

I actually prefer youtube. There is a lot of songs on Spotify I can't actually find. :vanora_sweat:
I also like to watch music videos too.

♪ (/・。・)/ Sweet dreams.

I prefer Youtube all the way. Like anyone said, the music choice is much better. Even though I never used Spotify.

YouTube ftw! haha yeah, YouTube I guess is still the more established medium as it's been around far longer than the others. It has more selection of any video/music content!

@KDA Drew: I had iTunes before back when I had an iPod.. I have not used it recently because I also have Android devices anyway. I didnt feel the need to have it on my computer as much. I do remember it was pretty nice back then! Can only imagine how much they've improved by now!

@Totalanimefan: That's super true! I guess now that I think about it, it's only when I'm on my laptop that I use YouTube. When I'm in the shower, I use Spotify instead. Spotify has the better feature on a smartphone as you can turn the screen off and the music still plays. I know YouTube has YouTube Music - but I don't want to pay for that lol

@Kitalpha Hart: I don't listen much to radio stations - at first I even thought that iHeartRadio was only for the US! lol
But I hear they're great! :)

Youtube, definitely. Hands down, no contest. XD
I haven't used Spotify since right after it came out, basically.
A lot of the music i like are remixes or foreign, and simply aren't on there.

Spotify. I also pay for it. I can make my own playlist and scrobble my music to last.fm. I can also add music I have on my computer to a spotify playlist.

@kwisshiie: I don't use the radio end. They do podcasts and you can select an artist and have a channel of them and theoretically similar artists playing

i used to prefer youtube, but i transitioned over to spotify when i somehow broke my autoplay into repeating the same 2 songs. it would just cycle between those 2 eventually no matter where i started. it got really hard to find new music. spotify makes it a lot easier to find new music and i get a lot of use out of it.
