"I can hunt out some things to help prevent the petrification... or, well, halt it." he went on.

"...wait, odds are you already have that." he then realised.

"There ANYTHING I can do to help out?"

Kiah just sighed.

"see... that's the thing." She started, meeting her cousins gaze.

"I have absolutely no idea." She told him honestly.

"I mean... Ever since Ilias started working here, I've made sure everyeone in this department has a booster shot of something to slow the spread of it, just in case something happened." She continued.

"But... it doesn't stop it. I don't know what can, aside from the gorgon who caused it."

Ash crossed his arms over his chest, and thought for a moment.

"True." he said.

"That IS a bit of a pickle, to understate it." he muttered.

"But the booster shot should buy her some time." he went on.

"Hm." he muttered further.

"I can ask my bother or Vincent if they have any literature on the subject-" he suggested, before sighing. "...but odds are you did that a while ago to CREATE the booster shot." he reasoned.

"Damn, guess you really need his cooperation." he said.

"Maybe we can get Lindsay here, see what's gotten into that boy's head?" he then suggested.

Kiah paused a moment at the mention of Lindsay talking to Ilias.

"I... wouldn't disagree with that, as long as he takes necessary precaustions. He's hard to kill, yes, but I don't know if Petrification counts for that or not." Shecommented.

"And honestly? I'd rather not find out."

"....that IS a good point..." Ash admitted.

"I don't think it's ever come up." he said.

"I suppose I can ask him, but doesn't Ilias's petrification work a bit different than a 'legit' gorgon's, or something?" he then asked.

"...well, whatever. The more time we talk about this without him here, the less time your weapon tech has left." he reasoned.

"I can go back home and speak with him, try and get him to get over here." he offered.

"Or you can call him and ask, or whatever you think is the best way to do this." he then said further.

"This is YOUR domain, not mine." he chuckled.

"I'll give him a call. It would be better to come from me, instead of you, as I'm the one requesting his help." She told him simply.

"No need for you to play messenger." She added.

"Thanks. I ... never would have considered Lindsay, to be honest."

"Get the last of the red tape outta the way, involving the dude I brought in."

"You go do that. I'm going to call LIndsay while you're off doing that. Is he at home, or is he busy?" She asked him.

"Last I checked, he's got the day off and is lounging in the backyard." Ash answered.

"He might be sleeping." Ash then said.

"You know, might've dozed off and there's a chance he won't hear his phone." he continued.

"If that's the case, just get someone to wake him up." he told her.

"Call... I dunno, Casey, and have Kitt give him a rude awakening." he chuckled.

"That always does it." he said.

"Anyway, I'm off. Good luck in dealing with this... crap... and call me if you think of any way I can personally help." he finished, before heading off to go and speak with Sharp.

"Yeah, of course." Kiah said before Ash took off.

Once he was gone, she just sighed before taking a seat in her office and grabbig her phone. She dialed the number for her cousin, sighed, and hit call.

"Oh Lindsay... I hope you answer, and that you can help." she muttered as she waited, while the phone rang

The phone rang... and rang... and just as she heard his voice mail start to answer, she heard some fumbling with the phone and someone ACTUALLY answer it.

"H-hello?" Lindsay stammered, his voice a bit weird and groggy.

"Sorry, was kind of in a half-dazed, half-asleep state." he apologised.

"Anyway, uh... Kiah!" he then said, checking the caller I.D. again.

"Kiah, what's up?" he asked.

"Not often you call me." he commented further, stretching out a little and yawning slightly.

"Couple questions for you." Kiah started before sighing.

"Gorgon based petrification - any idea as to whether it's as permanent for you as it would be for me? And... you willing to see what the fuck is wrong with Ilias?" she asked.

"Because... he's just not acting himself." She then aded before sighing, again.

"I can give you more information, but it really would be better to have that be face to face, if I'm being honest."

Lindsay was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"I'll show up there within a half-hour." he told her.

"And petrification?" he asked.

"Admittedly, I've never actually encountered a gorgon before, but Zeria and I have talked about it." he continued.

"Odds are I should be fine." he said.

"When a phoenix's lifeforce snuffs out abruptly, its remains turn to ashes, regardless of their state." he went on.

"So we surmised that the same should apply to me."

"I will get the clearance for you to come through, thank you so much." She added with a light sigh.

"I'm actually worried about him, so I really do appreciate it."

"Of course." Lindsay responded.

"I'll be there ASAP." he told her.

Ash made his way to the secretary's office, where he was told to wait for a moment. As he did, he heard Hal inside, talking with someone.

"...that is a good idea. I hope it'll help. Yes. Yes, I'll see to it he has proper clearance, and for Jake to expect him." he continued. It was clear he was on the phone with something.

"All right. Bye, then." he finished, as the secretary buzzed him.

"AJ from Candentus Lux here to see you." she said.

"Send him in." was the response.

Ash nodded to her, before making his way in so they could finish up his business there.

They were talking for about five minutes before Hal noticed something, it seemed the mana, the air, in the building changed slightly. It was very slight, but to one as in tune with how it normally felt, and hte mana of the world, Hal could identify it.

Ash could almost pick up on it too, but it was so minor that it wasn't easy.

It was abotu the same time that Ash did finally tune into it (which was only about fifteen seconds, mind), they heard a cry echo throughout the building. It wasn't quite a scream, but .. it could easily be misheard as one.

And they both felt it.

"....agent Gardner..." Hal said quietly.

"I wonder what-" he started to ask, before he noticed Ash looking uncomfortable.

"Are you all right?" he asked.

"Is... is that...?" Ash asked quietly, trailing off some.

"Agent Gardner. She's our resident banshee." Hal responded.

It was then that they heard the sound get a little louder... as though it were coming towards them... when something happened.

Ash seemed to explode with mana, and a rune of surprising strength shot out from him.

As Sierra was moving through the halls, it became apparent that she was running, trying to hide, to get away.

Unfortunately, she had to move past Hal's office in order to reach the doorway out.

As she was walking down that hallway, she saw the rune spreading quickly across the floor, but hadn't a chance to react before it hit her.

Her cry was cut short, which wasn't too surprising, mind.

Meanwhile, Kiah dropped her phone. She'd just finished sending a text.

". . . no..." She said quietly before concentrating, realising what direction the mana she felt was coming from, before bolting off - leaving her phone where it was, as it was less important for the moment.

Her phone chimed, signalling she'd received a response, but it went unnoticed and unanswered, as the owner was not there.

Instead, she was making her way towards where she felt this presence... and soon was able to see a disturbingly familiar rune creeping about.

Meanwhile, in the office, Hal was frozen where he was, barely able to speak.

And Ash was freaking out.

Part of him was trying to control the rune, part of him was feeding into it, but it was clear he was losing it.

He had become a bit unhinged, to understate it.

"Ah shit." Kiah muttered before beelining it for the source - Hal's office.

She didn't even bother knocking, just made her way in, knowing that it needed to be done. She found herself appreciative of how it was that a Fyrane couldn't seal another Fyrane as she approached her cousin.

"Ash! What the fuck is going on!?" She exclaimed, waiting to find out what she would need to do. She was aware of how sometimes brute force was required to stop the rune. She'd had to do it for her Mom once or twice in the past as well.
