I've been working on a story for years now, but never been able to start it off properly. I have all the main characters and plot events in line, but I haven't quite been able to get it down on paper.
That is, until yesterday. I finally managed to write two chapters, and it didn't feel forced at all. I think I finally got rid of that nasty writer's block!
Also managed to get a poem out of the system.
What do you guys do to get rid of writer's block?

Music always helps me with writer's block, I have a tonne of playlists on Spotify.
@Miika: very nice. I hate writers block. I can get 2/3 of something done and that last....or first.....sometimes little 1/3 just lingers right outside my grasp.

I've been wanting to write poetry again, but I always hear from people who I guess don't like poetry, that its so cheesy and all poetry "sounds the same" and its rather discouraging.

It's a sci-fi story with some romance components. I can't say too much without giving it away, but the first chapter starts with the main character running away from home, terrified of being found. There's also mentions of her parents giving her "treatments". She's found by a group of indigenous people, and the story is also a bit about them and their culture.

@sunny: Not muchm a couple of chapters. I have the idea for the general story and characters in my head, I'm just having some trouble fleshing it out.
