honestly yeah :c i mostly sell like stickers and stuff and the fees and everything are making it impossible. i was fine with the fees they charged before but now with the shipping changes, and the stuff they were doing with the google ad placement? i can't afford it because nobody's gonna spend $3-5 on a single sticker. it's not fair to the customer. if i have to, i'll literally make a google form people can order with and i'll spreadsheet to keep track of it myself!!
also sorry to double-post but i finally have something worth sharing!
this is the first image i've drawn 100% digitally in years. usually i have a base sketch done in pencil to go with it first lol

@Addy: Cute! (I also have trouble drawing all digital XP )
The margins on stickers are so slim already. Add the etsy & paypal fees??? I can understand why a lot of artists just give them away as freebies

@addy: i like the doodle ^^
what was ur workflow like before vs now ??
when i used to do digital painting i would sketch first and scan it
but i haven't had a scanner in a long time :-/
rn i try to take a good pic w my phone but it takes more effort to tweak

@lilykin: seriously it's almost cheaper to just give them as a bonus with other things lol (and thank u!)
@xvz: thank u also !! usually i sketch on paper first with pencil and then do the lines digitally. i also am working a lot with ink pens but I'm still not really where I want to be with those just yet. if i'm digitally inking, i will actually just use my phone camera and adjust it as needed since it's not going to be visible later, then line over it
here's something that was pencilled and then digitally inked:
this is almost two years old now aaaa

I would say about 90% of the stuff I turn out now is sketched traditionally first. I'm seem to spend waaay to much time sketching if I do it all digitally

@addy: ooo i see, thanks for sharing your process!
i've been trying to get back into character art bc of joining voltra
i'm used to like... realism ?
like learning realism i had to unlearn the whole sketch + ink + flat color + shade + blend workflow
but now i'm like slowly going back thru it trying to pick it back up lol
@lilykin: do you use a scanner or also take photos?
can i ask what your workflow is usually like :3

Just noticed the drawings and I can say they look great

@xvz: Photos. I just snap a quick pic wherever I'm sitting if I'm not showing off the sketch. I drag out my light tent if I am. Then I drop it in CSP and lock the layer, create a new layer and ink there.
Eons ago I would sketch and ink traditionally, scan, and then create a mask in photoshop. Idk if this is still relevent or not but here's the tutorial I used.

@lilykin: ooh i didn't know what a light tent was, i had to look it up
do you mostly use it for photographing your drawings?
that's the way i used to do it too!
i guess scanners are becoming closer to obsolete since our phone cameras have gotten better

@xvz: I actually bought for my amigurumi photos but you can use it for basically any kind of photos or videos. I wouldn't mind having a scanner again. I would deal less with warping and color inconsistencies. I just never got around to replacing my old one ^^;
Oh god I almost forgot. I had a phase were I would sketch, light trace, ink, scan, edit in photoshop, print, color, ink, scan, and edit in photoshop again lol

@lilykin: omg!!! that sounds adorable, what are they of??
are they hard to make?? i was kind of thinking if i should pick it up
i feel similarly, i wouldn't mind having a scanner but not sure if i want the hassle of acquiring one + making space for it
i've been thinking of getting a scanner+printer combo for making zines tho, maybe i'll bite the bullet later this year
and omg - although i've definitely seen that workflow before
it does feel physically nicer to work mostly on paper

@xvz: I do all sorts of things. Bouncing between animal crossing items and teletubbies rn. Crochet isn't hard to pick up at all. Planet June is were I would start as an absolute beginner and Sweet Softies has loads of cute patterns for free!
Yeah, I'm biding my time until I can afford a printer/scanner combo. I've keep looking at the brother models but $$$ /cry

i'm like exclusively digital now hfhhdhhg haven't coloured anything drawn traditionally in yeeeears
(the art in my sig banner was inked traditionally and had colours added digitally though, that was a super exception)
I'd love to switch over completely but I think my tablet is just to small for sketching comfortably. It's fine for inking tho. I wish I could test drive a monitor tablet without dropping so much cash on it

what size is your current tablet? :o
also same lol
just watching other people's reviews isn't enough ~_~
It's this one. I think it has like a 7-8 in drawing space :/
I think my first was a graphire too. I borrowed it from school and I'm not even sure it had pen pressure lol. The first one I bought was a bamboo. It was bigger than the intuos I have now
I keep looking at those xpen tablets >_>
