@Totalanimefan: There's a few threads I've got bookmarked but I'll start digging a little further back.

I think one of the hiccups is that you really have to interact with other folks in order to collect currency. I think that's a good feature, b/c it promotes community engagement. But it also excludes the people that like to mostly lurk

Before I head to bed, I'm gonna say, I love lurking. I do it all the time on other sites, but like you said, Getting volts only for posting makes it hard on lurkers. But give me a couple good RPs and I'll be making the volts like crazy.

@Crystalkitsune85: Sometimes it's nice to just follow along the conversation, especially when I don't really have any input. I wouldn't mind a couple of games though (I'm terrible at RPs I wish I could join sometimes lol)

@Totalanimefan: I'm actually posting more b/c of lockdown. Normally I would come home exhausted from work and not want to social at all

@Colin: Love that thrill! Honestly why I hung around gaia as long as I did. I really wanted to go after all the old MC's but then the rigs started coming out nonstop and I couldn't keep up and it wasn't fun anymore. I think Voltra's got a good balance here

And yeah, Gaia's suffering from bloat. Just... overall. A shame, really. Collecting just isn't fun when collectibles come out so fast that you feel like you'll never keep up.

@Colin: I actually really liked the evolving items at first. They were fun and generated a lot community discussion. But gaia investors (I'm assuming) got greedy. It's kinda what happened to tumblr. Someone from the outside only sees dollar signs but have no idea what actually makes it appealing and how to generate income from that

Patreon and Etsy are good examples of investors ruining things. You could literally run their base models as is forever and make a profit from it. But investors want double or triple the return and force developers to push out cash grab updates that in turn push people away from their service
