Hey guys. First time board maker here.
Didn't think I'd make any, but this game. Omg this game. I swear I'm playing it wrong. Just started, and can't get past the first area without dying lots.
All those souls or what not... gone! And I have to refight the areas. Ran past an angry dog. Fought off angry men with my fists. Got upset I couldn't pick up their weapons. Two hours later, I find the weapons are in the Hunters Dream area. Wow.
Went back, was able to fight off the angry dog. Easier time fighting off the angry villagers. There is no way to fight off those large angry villagers though. So I let em knock and groan on doors they can clearly walk around.
Anyone else suffering through this?
Or is it just me? ):
@Heavy: Played it a while ago and not for very long, but yeah you're supposed to fight off the large angry villagers one by one or at a manageable amount. Make sounds or noises to draw them away type deal.
I don't think you're playing it 'wrong' it's meant to be challenging. Just keep at it.
Good luck.

@sire: thank you. It's a different type of game, and I'm not used to how it works. Usually there's set levels you go through, and levels are usually relatively short to boot. This? This is different.
It's enjoyable. Just confusing and frustrating to go through the same areas constantly.

@Heavy: Yeah their company are notorious for challenging games, you're playing it 'right' though. Learning from your mistakes type thing.
You're gonna have to get used to that. Lol.
Keep at it and try not to break anything in anger. lmao.

no.
@DeimosPoe24: it was very confusing st first. But now I find it annoying to be running through the same area. ): Haven't gotten too far yet, heading to bed before work, but it gets easier after a few deaths imo.
@sire: the only thing I break out of anger are the mobs. My brother came over while I was playing. He stood for a few minutes and watched, only to comment: I would not have done what you just did. You see that angry mob there? I would have just quit instead of charge in.
Ps. I died, but ran in head first two more times before killing them all. I blame the gunners.

Why so afraid? Heh heh...
Ooh man. If this is your first From Software game (this includes Dark Souls and Bloodborne), you're definitely not playing it wrong, but it's a steep learning curve from anything you've played before.
The first thing to remember is that you're going to die. A lot. Embrace it! Practice fighting a new mob you come across just to see how they work. Most enemies only have two or three total attacks, and you'll be fighting single battles usually if you're careful.
The first area does have a LOT of mobs that come at you, though, but they die fast. Watch until they attack, and then charge in to destroy them before they recover!
If you do die, you can go back to the area to reclaim all the souls you lost. It's a little bloody red puddle usually, OR if an enemy's eyes are glowing, that means they took your souls. Kill that glowing-eyed enemy to get your souls back.
Running across the maps is definitely the most redundant thing about dying, though. Try to look at it as a chance to explore or learn more. That's what I try to do when I die a lot, but it WILL be frustrating. Trust me, though. When you get to a boss and finally conquer one, you'll get a fierce high. XD
I've beaten Dark Souls 2 and 3, and I'm currently going through Bloodborne after beating it to get all the achievements. If you're ever in need of help, be sure to ask! I really want to help others enjoy the series. =D
I actually made a thread about it not long ago but nobody really plays LOL

Drink... and be merry, heh heh.
Lol, I have had this game for a while and I've yet to play it, oops. :vanora_xd:
I've played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls so I know what to expect of this game.

Keep trying xD you’ll get good eventually :) I’m the same way though xD
@Dowan: I've never seen red puddles? Are you talking about the spectra thing?
@Rosamond: first time playing a game like this. It's a welcomed change for sure. Were you playing in any particular order?
@GuttedBunny: one day! Until then, I'll just roll like crazy.

@Heavy:
The little red puddle is what you click to retrieve your souls. It's a bit hard to see in any area.

@Heavy: me too
@Dowan: I'll take a look next time I'm down, and a monster hasn't picked up my booty. Thanks for the tip, was wondering why some souls came back while others didn't.
@Heavy: Haha, yup! If you don't see the puddle, a monster in the nearby area should have vividly glowing eyes. It's like a bright white/blue. Kill 'em and you'll always get your souls back.
@Dowan: another thing is, I forget where I die. The rough location is easy to remember, but the exact spot? Never in a million years.
@Heavy: I know how you feel. LOL
I go back to where I THINK I died and... nothing. No puddle. No glowing eyes. Just pain at forgetting to go spend my blood echoes before I died.

@ Dowan: so far I've managed to die when I was returning to spend souls. It's very frustrating. >:(
My whole time playing, is fighting to get those same 2k souls back from different mobs that pick em up.
Edit: oh jeez I finally found the splatter. Final! 3k souls here I come!

@Heavy: Nah, just that Demons Souls is the older game so I played that first because I got it before Dark Souls came out. Bloodborne I just haven't played since I've been playing other games instead although I do plan to play it eventually.
