drawing from imagination is so much harder!!

feeling excited bc i set out to take digital painting seriously!! nice to have something to feel like i'm working towards, and something to look forward to sinking time into as winter void approaches

from Cold Souls ?? idk once again haven't seen lol pulled it from https://film-grab.com/ once again ^^
saved some process pics but too lazy to process/upload lol. but did first pass w/ no color picking and got p close :0
second pass i did color pick + add details ....
i try not to zoom in At All but i did a teeny tiny zoom this time for the bed folds

i downloaded a free brush set, i think i just looked up "free brush set" and went from there lol
i think krita comes w textured brushes to begin w ? i remember quite liking them :0

Krita does have textured brushes - I just never thought to use them since I use the same default round brush with pressure sensitivity added >w>

when i was getting back into dig art i was trying out krita and sketchbook and one of the things that made me wanna stay w krita was the textured brushes they had!!

this piece i did in krita w one of their textured brushes and i quite liked it!!! super fun to play around w if u get a chance ^^

ms paint the og paint program ^^
when i switched to mac at first one of my biggest frustrations was not having an ms paint equivalent!! like it’s so lightweight and easy to use (though maybe they’ve beefed it up a bit more over the last decade?)

i also used to use something called photofiltre!! it’s like a step up from paint, still nice n lightweight but great for stuff like cropping and resizing stuff v easily! and has lots of other features if u feel like using them too

mspaint seems 2 be a li l more clean looking imo ?? they tried 2 remove it as a default program a yr ago and nobody wanted it gone so >:3
cropping + resizing is TERRIBLE in mspaint, i make seb do it in krita 4 me >w>

omg why would they try to remove ms paint!!! terrible decision lol
it’s like low key a culturally significant icon of a program lol
i’m glad they came to their senses and put it back >:0

i’d rec that photofiltre program!! i mainly used it for cropping and resizing even when i had photoshop
i don’t think it runs on mac so i haven’t used it in like a decade, but it’s free and i seem to remember having good experiences with it!

more fullbody practice:

just under 2 hrs , no ref - i forgot lol
want to find a good fullbody ref hmm...
good practice though !! was a reminder for me to trust the process
i want to paint a fullbody scene !!! am slowly building up confidence/comfort towards it but i think the best way to go is to just do it ...
