Az accepted the brownie and popped it in his mouth. After take a bit and chewing for about a second, she saw his eyes light up, his face turn slightly red, and he seemed to just be in a dreamy state now.

"Ohhhhhh my GOD!" he exclaimed with his mouth full.

"Ohhhhh! OHHH!" he practically moaned, before shaking his head and finishing what he had, swallowing it.

"Cain and I will absolutely devour all of these." he told her.

"They are... absolutely magnificent." he proclaimed, before pausing.

"...of course, then again, Cain and I have each have a sweet tooth that is nigh-insatiable." he then admitted.

"Y'all are ridiculously easy to please." She added.

"We really are." he said.

"Guess that's just how we're made." he shrugged, accepting the container.

"I'll return the container to you ASAP." he then told Erica.

"Thanks so much." he said further.

"We demons lack the internals to properly process food and such... because we don't need them... but damn it, we have functioning taste buds, and know when things taste good." he went on.

"...well, 'good'..." he mumbled.

"Pretty sure we'd drink sugar water if it were socially acceptable." he admitted.

Az narrowed his eyes a little, and stroked his chin.

"I see." he said.

"Because now I'm SUPER curious about this sweetener of yours." he admitted.

"...although, now I'm curious about something else." he then told her.

"I barely know or see her." She answered.

"I only know of her sweet tooth because Jake's come asking me for cookies and brownies from time to time." She told him, "for her, of course. Jake doesn't have all that much of a sweet tooth."

"...here's hoping this is just a blip or something." he then added at the end.

Az nodded in response.

"Of course." he said.

"I'm sure he'll understand." he told her. "He's more than reasonable like that." he assured her.

"But then again, you already know that." he shrugged.

He then stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her in a friendly hug. It was all he could think of doing to help her at this point, as he was the only one that COULD hug her when she got like this.

So he did.

He had a feeling that just that closeness would help her mental state. Or at least, he hoped it would.

Erica returned the embrace, and he could tell that yeah, she appreciate it - if nothing else.

"Thanks Az, I owe you one." She saida fter a moment or two before stepping back.

"Anyway, I'm going to ... see if I can do something, anything, to calm this shit down." She added.

"Thanks again, and sorry about our little date being interrupte.d"

He then gave her one more quick hug, before ascending to her bedroom and disappearing once he reached there, appearing in the den of his own house.

Once there, he hung his head, and looked around.

Back. he sent to the two that lived there.

Erica just sighed lightly, not sure what it was that she was to expect from this.

What she did know, was that the day wouldn't go well, at all. She'd have to text the one that she was supposed to meet later, she couldn't meet them, after all.

With some hesitation, because she knew this would not go well, she grabbed her phone from her pocket and sent the text.

Something has come up, can't meet today. We can try again tomorrow. was all it said. She just hoped that it would go well.

I can pay you digitally, if that works. she added, knowing that he'd resisted digital in the past, had always wanted cash, but thought she'd mention it at least.

After a few seconds, she received a series of messages. 3, to be precise. All from the one she had just texted.

That is not how our agreement goes. You know that. the first one read.

I do NOT do digital payments. You know that. the second one iterated.

You have ONE text to explain yourself as to why you are unable to pay e today. Make it count. the third one warned her.

And even though they were texts, the threatening nature to them were... palpable.

She could almost feel the anger and impatience in them.

Erica paused before sighing lightly. She had no idea how it was that she was supposed to reply to this, as she wasn't sure how honest she could be.

"How the fuck am I to answer that?" She asked the air, annoyance in her voice as she made he way to the couch and sat down.

She sat and thought for about a minute before going with the only thing she could think of.

Sure, we can meet, if you want to risk, being violently ill. Seriously considering a trip to the hospital for this because of just how horrid it is.

There was another bout of silence... before she received another text from them. One that seemed... a bit more ominous.

Interesting spin. I cannot fault that choice of words. it read.

However, before she could really wonder what that meant, or ask him what he was talking about, there was a knock on her door.

It was sudden, and it was formal... but it wasn't sharp.

But she couldn't deny the inherent sense of dread that she felt when she heard it.

Even though she couldn't pinpoint WHY, exactly.

Erica cursed lightly when she heard the knock.

"Hold on!" She called before getting to her feet. She grabbed her wallet on the way to the door, stopping by the mirror that was on the way to try and make sure she was completely covered. Thankfully, the slight panic from the mark was making her a bit paler than usual.She really hoped that it would help in this situation.

However, she also knew that she couldn't avoid this.

With a sigh, she made sure her scarf was a bit tighter than normal, hiding most of the marking - all that could be seen was a small point on her jaw - before opening the door.

"So, tell me." he went on, pausing for a moment.

"Are you sick and tired of always shelling out money?" he asked.

"Your finances can NOT be in good standings." he said further, smirking ever-so-slightly.
