After about 7 minutes of her laying there to allow the pill to do its thing, she finally felt the pain in her head subside a little. Granted, what she had was still a decent headache, but at least it wasn't the borderline migraine that she'd woken up with.

At that time, Bast started to stir, before his eyes popped open quickly.

He looked ready to freak out, but sensing that someone was beside him, he looked over and saw it was Jordan.

"...." he was silent, before noticing he was in his room, and then sighing.

"...hi." he greeted her, placing a hand on his head.

"And... ow." he mumbled, feeling the pain like Jordan had.

Why can't I just be

Jordan didn't say anything before reaching over, grabbing the remaining pill that was there, and giving it to Bast.

"This should help." She commented.

"Because it did with me. Apparently Cain expected the headaches." She added.

He looked at the pill confusedly for a moment, before grabbing it and taking it, quickly swallowing.

He then sighed, and looked at the ceiling.

"Cain, huh?" he asked. "Guess mother needed to call in help." he said.

"...how are YOU doing?" he then asked her.

"Are you all right?" he asked further.

"I didn't hurt you or anything?"

"Even if you did, doubt I would have given a shit." Jordan answered with a light sigh.

"Considering ... well, I'm somewhere around 95% certain that whatever she threw at us had doll daisy extract in it, or something akin to it." She added.

"I've felt that effect before, and I really do think that was what it was." She added before pausing.

"what I want to know, is who the hell WAS that? Why did they want you? sure, you're a necro, but isn't that kinda trumped by the demonic mana you have?"

Bast paused for a moment, thinking about it.

"...that... is a good question." he said.

"It was clear they had NO idea who they were dealing with, though." he continued. "That extract only affected my human half, and my demonic half tried to take over, which would have been a bad time for... well... everyone." he explained with a sigh.

"So they really could have fucked things up." he muttered.

"But yes, there are SO many questions about that encounter." he agreed.

"At least we both seem to be okay now."

Jordan just got to her feet, sighing.

"Yeah... there really are." She then said.

She let out a cry of pain as she was thrown against the wall. Her clothes were in tatters, her hair was a mess and she was thoroughly bruised, bleeding from some places too.

"You need to learn your place." The one who had thrown her into the room stated.

"Now do as you were told." They ordered. She didn't say anything as she just stayed where she was, against the wall where she'd slid down it. She could barely move for the moment.

Another was sitting in the room, silent and still.

They seemed to be in better shape than the female, but that was only physically. Their eyes were glowing a faint crimson red, and they looked at her.

"...sorry..." he apologised.

"You're here... because... of me..." he said.

His voice was strained, like he was fighting to get those words out. Because he was.

The fact that he could even speak freely right now at all was a testament to how resilient he was... or perhaps, how cruel their captors were.

She was completely silent for a moment before making her way over and sitting next to him.

"Oh Evan..." She said quietly, wrapping an arm around him and pulling him in close. She was surprised that they let this go on, as she knew that her presence actually helped her brother, helped clear him up of the mana a bit. However, it also helped to get his mana to do what they wanted, since it gave the impression of protecting her, so maybe him having more freedom was a risk they were willing to take.

"Here." She said as she conjured a small orb of water. It was of her tears, sine phoenix tears had healing properties. Every time they were anywhere near each other, she would do this, give him some freedom, give him some sanity.

And she would continued to do that until he told her to stop.

Evan looked at the orb, before forcing himself to lean in and drink it, slurping it down quickly.

After he'd done so, he collapsed lightly into her lap.

"...Sammy..." he whiepered.

"This is horrible." he said.

"And we can't call for help. Nobody knows where we are..." he said further.

"What are we going to do, Sammy...?"

Sammy just sighed, heavily.

"I..." She started, letting out a breath.

"I have no idea." She admitted. There was definite fear in her voice, but she was trying to keep her emotions level. The last thing she needed at the moment was to have a panic attack, or develop another ulcer.

"I just... I don't know. We can't even contact the reapers in here, bitch has protections against that."

"Never works." he said further, before coughing violently.

"...o-ow..." he stammered afterwards.

"I feel better now." he then said.

Sammy just sighed.

"I know... I wish I could do more though." She said. "But... I'm not dad." She added with a shake of her head, knowing that their father would definitely have more skills for using his tears, his phoenix mana, to help either of them than she could hope to do.

"I don't even know why they keep doing this... not really." She added. "It can't be good that I help you, can it?"

"I don't know what's going on." he told her, sobbing lightly.

"Maybe... if I just gave in, they'd let you go..." he then said quietly.

"Maybe if I surrendered to them, they'd free you." he said further.

And she could hear the sincerity in his tone.

He was seriously considering it.

"....." Evan was silent again for a moment, before getting out of her lap and sitting against the wall again.

"...do we even have a chance, regardless?" he asked her.

"We're someplace that nobody can find us." he told her.

"This is where people go missing and are never found. Ever." he went on, some tears trickling down his dirty cheeks.

"Why? Why is this happening?" he asked.

"What did we do to deserve this?"

I... I wish I knew." was all she said. There was definite weight to her words, but that really wasn't anything new.

"Not even the Order can help us... I haven't properly slept since we got here." she added.

"Every time I do pass out from exhaustion, they give me something that wakes me up and prevents me from going to sleep." he continued.

"...it's driving me mad, Sammy." he admitted.

"I feel like I'm losing myself..."

"I.... I know." She commented.

"I just... I know." She added. "Because.... I'm in the same boat. I seem to barely even have any sort of realisation of the days." She added.

Upon being reminded of Sammy's unique predicament, Evan's eyes hardened. He looked forward with a steeled expression, renewed determination.

"...I will find a way to save you." he said.

"The both of you." he told her.

"This isn't fair, and I refuse to let the unthinkable happen." he vowed... before his eyes flashed red briefly, and he returned to how he'd been a few seconds ago.

That was another thing that was happening. It seemed that Evan was allowed to have a brief moment of hope and strength, before it was yanked away from him.

"The worst part, is that I never managed to tell Darrell." She added.

"I really hope that everyone is ok without us..." She then said. "I can live without having a kid... so long as I have somewhere to return to, family and friends." She looked to her brother before sighing, again.

"... at least we have each other, no?"
