And yes, unless there's some other date posted somewhere that's not immediately obvious, the FAQ says "On January 30th, event forums will be closed and locked, event currency will be disabled, and event items will be removed from the shop."... and with the update concerning bundles and goodie bags, it was posted "be sure to exchange your snowflakes for items by January 30th!". That was yesterday, so I don't know...

Yes, I think timezones have some role with it but it doesn't usually include overnight (for me; Eastern US).

@Lilykin: You actually manage to go grocery shopping once every two weeks? This just astounds me. There is no way my family would survive two whole weeks with just one trip to the grocery!! Is it just you that you're buying for?
Yes, I'm just drinking my coffee right now, listening to the dog whine because she wants to go out and, since the event seems to still be active, complete another set of items (one more and just a handful of snowflakes) so I can send them to a mule or use them later as donations, etc.

@Wildfire: It's just me lol. I buy a lot of frozen/non perishables so I could go 3 weeks. But I like to have fresh veggies and deli meats too haha

@Lilykin: Ok, that makes a whole lot more sense to me now. My family of four includes two teenage young men who definitely eat their fill of food every day. It seems that all I do is run to get groceries, and in truth, I go at least twice a week. :3 Good luck with your trip to the store and having to "adult" :3
