Savra continued to hold him, not letting go.

"It's okay." they said.

"She was a very irritating person." they understated, as one of the doors opened, and Ryker stepped back in, setting the plastic bag he had on a table that was near Eke.

"All right, let's jet." he said to the two of them.

"You gonna be ok, Eke?" he asked Eke.

"...right." Ryker responded.

"Well, drink and then get some sleep." he said.

"I'll get us back on the road." he muttered.

Savra returned to their animal form, and laid down at the foot of one the beds.

They closed their eyes and just let out a small breath, as Ryker returned to the driver's seat up front.

Savra reacted quickly and made their way to the bottle, picking it up and recapping it, before cleaning up what had been spilled.

"He all right?" Ryker asked from up front.

"Fell asleep." Savra responded.

"Fair enough." Ryker said.

Once things had been cleaned up, Savra gently carried Eke to his bed on the RV, laid him down in it, made sure he was covered up, and then returned to their animal form, crawling onto the bed as well and curling into a ball at Eke's feet.

Ryker had noticed that as they were driving, it'd been a while... in fact, they were close to dinnertime... and Eke was still asleep. He pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant, parking in the corner of it, before making his way to where Eke was sleeping.

"Hey..." he said quietly, touching Eke's shoulder.

"Hey, you sound asleep?" he asked, gently nudging him.

"Want something to eat?" he then inquired, as Savra slowly perked up and looked over towards them.

"It's dinner time, Eke." Ryker said.

"We're in the parking lot of a restaurant." he told him further. "If you want something, lemme know and I'll go get it and bring it back here." he continued.

"Just figured I should wake you up so you can either eat, or have food waiting. Food you WANT." he chuckled.

Savra, meanwhile, just stretched out, yawning widely and bearing their sharp teeth... before walking in a circle and laying back down.

"..." Ryker was silent as he saw this.

"Right then." he muttered.

He then left the vehicle and was gone for close to an hour, returning with food containers that smelled mostly of beef.

He set them on one of the counters before getting back to the driver's seat and pulling out of the parking lot.

"Need to find a place to camp for the night..."

He got no answer.

When he looked down, he saw Savra still sleeping at his feet... and then when he looked around even more, he noticed that, out the window, it was nighttime outside. Completely dark. But he swore he saw some faint light outside, off to the side, as well.

Ryker had found a small campground for them to set up, and had parked in an area for them. He'd let Eke continue to sleep inside, while he went outside and set up a campfire for himself.

He was just staring into it, as he roasted a sausage over the open flames, the dancing embers reflecting in his eyes.

Ryker looked over to Eke for a moment, said nothing, and then looked back to the fire.

"Almost midnight." he said.

"Like, quarter to." he told him further.

"You should probably go back to bed. Try and wake up in the morning so you have a more normal sleep schedule. Don't need to be a night-owl." he continued.

"Food's on one of the tables. Probably cold by now."

"I'm fine." Ryker responded.

"And no, I'm not 'afraid' to sleep." he then said, bringing the sausage closer to him and checking it over.

"...hmph. Few more..." he muttered, sticking it back over the fire.

"I know what happens to me when I sleep, and there's nothing that can be done about it. Ever since I resolved to stop trying to end myself, I've become quite aware of what my future holds." he told him further.

"Now, granted, was a shock when it started to actually happen, but... it's just something that'll happen. My body's changing. I'm starting to physically become a human-demon hybrid, as will be necessary for me to survive in the other realm." he explained.

"It looks scary, and I'm sorry I scared you with it, but it's not scaring ME, and I'm not afraid to sleep because of it." he insisted, before pausing and sighing heavily.

"...though the nightmares that happen because of it are really bothersome..." he admitted quietly.

Ryker closed his eyes for a moment and let out a heavy breath.

"I know." he said.

"I realised that was my bad." he told him, withdrawing the meat again, checking it, and then putting it in a hotdog bun, squirting mustard over the top of it.

"And it's because I'm not tired." he then said, answering his question.

"I'm also hungry. So I'm out here making a snack."
