Ryker shook his head.

"I wanted something fire-cooked." he told him.

"Plus, the microwave woulda been too noisy with the beeping and crap. And the food from the restaurant wouldn't have taken well to the fire." he reasoned further.

"And you're a strong kid." he then said, referring to how Eke hadn't passed out.

"You may have been dealt a shit hand, but it doesn't mean it's just downhill and nothing more than that."

Why can't I just be

"Maybe.." he said though to what he was responding to was unknown.

"Im sorry..." was all he said before he got up, stuffed his hands in his coat pockets and walked a bit away, staring at the sky.

He looked to his hand growing his claws

"Some dragon i am..."

"Eh?" Ryker muttered, looking over at him.

"Sorry? For what?" he asked.

"And whatcha mean by that last comment?" he asked further.

"Seriously, somethin' seems to be buggin' you again." he commented, shaking his head slightly.

"So how about you tell me?" he suggested.

"I know I should practice what I preach, but don't start practicin' what -I- practice."

His tail swished like a cat.

He didnt answer, just stretched out his wings.

He had more scales on his skin like he might transform.

Sometimes Eke forgot he was still a giant beast.

"..." Ryker was silent as he saw this.

"Eke...?" he muttered.

"Yo. Y'all right?" he asked, standing up and slowly making his way over.

"What are you thinking about?"

Eke looked over, his pupils thin slits.

It was like he didnt recognise Ryker for a moment.

Then his eyes returned normal, and he fainted.

"Ah!" Ryker exclaimed, catching Eke as he fell.

"The hell was THAT?" he muttered, looking at him.

He then sighed and carried Eke back into the RV, laying him down on the bed once more. When he'd done that, he went back out to tend to the fire, shaking his head as he did so.

"...the hell's going on in our lives as of late..."

Eke had begun to run a high fever.

Whatever happened had put his body in overdrive.

He tossed and turned in bed, sweat forming on his reddened face

Savra noticed this and turned to their human form, checking Eke over.

"Sir Ryker!" they called out to Ryker.

"Master Eke is running a very high fever!" they exclaimed.

"Damn it." Ryker cursed from the fire, as he made his way back in, grabbing ice packs as he did so, and placing them on Eke's forehead, as well as the back of his neck.

"Come on, kid, don't do this NOW." he said.

It took an hour before he calmed down.

After that, he rested normally, his fever down to something managable.

Eke shivered gently, but he was mostly out of the woods now.

However his scales, nor his claws had retracted, so in his gripping of the bed, he had torn it up.

"....great." Ryker muttered.

"Well, losing the damage deposit on this." he commented, sighing.

"But at least it seems Eke's getting better." he reasoned.

"What's happening?" Savra asked, before returning to their animal form and laying down beside Eke.

"I don't know." Ryker replied.

"But I think we need to get home ASAP."

After a while, Eke gasped, jolting awake.

He looks around.

"Where am i...?" he asked, his claws and scales retracted now.

"Ryker...? Savra...?"

The first thing Eke noticed was that Savra had been sleeping close to him, and was awake now, stirred by Eke's sudden rising. The second was that they were moving.

The RV was on the move, and it looked to be sometime in the morning.

He had no idea how long they'd been moving, or where they were, but they were moving.

'Are you all right?' Savra inquired concernedly.

Eke rubbed his head.

He felt like he'd been run over.

"Savra...? What...i...im alright...i feel like a truck ran over my arms and head but alright" he said softly

"What...what happened. I remember apologising to Ryker...then i was looking at the stars and...nothing"

'You passed out.' Savra responded.

'Ran a high fever, too. And your scales and claws wouldn't retract.' they said further.

'Ryker kept you cool and kept your temperature moderate, until you seemed fine.' they then went on.

'And then he started driving.'

"I...i dont remember..." he said disturbed.

He sits there rubbing his eyes.

He slowly gets up, staggering into the bathroom.

He was in there for a little while, but nothing too worrying and when he came out he leaned on the wall.

"Savra...can you get me a bottle of water...?"

Savra didn't say anything, just made their way to the fridge and shifted to their human form. They opened it and grabbed a bottle of water, opening it as they made their way back to Eke.

"Here." they said, handing it to him.

"...are you all right?" they asked.

"As in... are you feeling okay?"

"Im tired, i feel like i was hit by a truck. I cant remember passing out...or what led up to it. Its hot, and i feel like i havent had anything to drink in days" he said.

He opened his water and drained the bottle and sat down at the table.

"Mind getting another one...?" he asked looking at Savra, his yellow eyes dulled.

They lacked that shimmer in the moonlight like they should have.

"..." Savra didn't know what to say here, but they went and got another bottle of water for him.

"Here." they said as they handed it off.

"Are... is something wrong?" they asked.

"Your eyes seem... off." they commented.

"They're a bit dull... and not filled with the shimmer of life they usually are."
