Forums General Chit-Chat I decided to wash my bedsheets right before a hurricane because I am an adult.

Donator — whatever Posted 3 years ago ( 2021/07/6 23:44:35 )

To be perfectly honest I couldn't stand how sandy and generally dirty the sheets had become (I blame my roommate's dog; he loves me and jumps up on my bed constantly) so I just decided to wash it all.

This wouldn't be weird except we're getting hit by a hurricane within the next hour or so, lol. I've basically waffled all day on whether I wanted to bother and finally caved.

Any dubious decisions you've made recently?

Should they keep it on display...

showering lol

It's absolutely one of those things that I know I need to do but struggle to start when I'm depressed. I finally managed it earlier today, tho, so yay for being clean!

Or redecorate?

@MaxIsConfused: Yay! I know it can be a struggle, but it always feels nice to be fresh and clean. :)

@Totalanimefan: I suppose that's true! I had already done my laundry two days ago but the sheets were bothering me. It's unlikely we'll lose power--in like 40 years this house only has a couple times and neither was due to storms--but at least I can be cozy in a clean bed while the storm rages outside my window. :)

@CooperationIsKey:

Do you also live in Florida?

This post reminds me I haven’t removed items from my porch but I live in the center of the state so I’m not too worried

@Spider: Yep, and right smack in the path of Elsa.

My roommate/landlord didn't move her stuff off the porch either and I'm really wondering how much is going to have to be gathered from around the cul-de-sac tomorrow. XD

@Spider: Lol! I forgot about the Waffle House thing. I guess if it's still open it can't be too bad. ;) I never thought I'd wish someone's power goes out but good luck, I guess! XD

Oh my god I just cackled, that's great. Very Floridian. Much like how many midwesterners like to watch when there's tornados (my cousin in Colorado got some great shots recently of one--moving away--near their house)!

Kind of a pity Elsa's hitting at night; can't see the cool clouds!

I love when the serious hurricanes hit at night because I just go to bed and it’s over. It’s the worst when you’re wide awake the power is off and you just hear everything. I can’t remember if it was Irma or Matthew that hit us last time (I live in Orlando) I was kinda terrified since it was suppose to be a cat 5 and hit us direct on and in the middle of the night it was like nah I want those east coast beaches.

Though I never know if I’ll have to work through them as the only time work actually closes is for the more serious hurricanes.

@Spider:
I can understand that! I'd rather sleep through a worse storm too I think.

I wouldn't want to work through a storm like this either. Heck, I was annoyed that I had to take out the trash in this one. XD;

@CooperationIsKey:

Well I am in the theme park industry though thankfully back of house (and work from home right now) so there is always a need for bodies to come trudging through the storms as guests will still be coming to the park. Tbh it might even be busier tomorrow.

@Spider:
Oh gosh, yeah, you said you're in Orlando right? Good lord, people won't cancel those trips for much of anything. Which given the cost I guess is kind of understandable but it sucks for the employees. Given what a sunny day it turned out to be here (I'm in the Tampa Bay area) I'm guessing it's probably pretty busy there, lol.

@CooperationIsKey:

It’s actually kinda slow for the parks! Right now the longest wait time is for Dudley do right at 65 minutes and gringotts for the other park. There were a lot of cancellations but locals love coming or trying to stay I. The hotels during one (since power food and water will be there).

It’s a shame how nice it actually is right now since I’m still stuck at home and would rather head to the beach or pool

Hurricanes scare the bejoozes out of me, so glad I don't live anywhere near hurricane alley...

That said, I do live near a pretty major fault line, and we're still waiting for "The Big One" (earthquake) to hit...

@Spider:
I do remember seeing something about people staying at Disney during hurricanes, lol. It makes sense, I suppose!

@Totalanimefan:
Man, you and me both, but I also know that odds are ever-increasing that we'll get hit again, worse. :/

@Alchemists Fire:
Lol I lived in Los Angeles for years, and was definitely less nervous about the possible earthquakes than impending hurricanes!
