@Totalanimefan: I uh... don't. Ahah. Balance, that is...
What ends up happening is I'll hyperfocus on a specific kind of style for several months, want to switch up, hyperfocus on that, and on and on again... it kind of cycles back though? Like, I may not draw realistically at *all* this year, but next year it might be all I do for 6 or 7 months. Or I might not ever draw eyes in some specific way but then that'll be all I do for a few months.
Some small things stick though - How I do my lineart, or certain shading styles, for instance (like giving everyone mouth-corner dimples by shading the mouth corners, or using a specific shading style for skin with a blue tint in the shadows, (which i picked up like 6 months ago and have been trying to do every time since... though I sometimes forget!) or, for a long while, doing really blurry eyes, though I phased that out because I started doing a different eye style.)
I've been drawing for close to 13 years but I'm always learning and growing, I don't want to stagnate so I try new things all the time and new styles to find what I'm comfortable with and what I need to learn.
