Lately I have been avoiding art, for more than one reason but one main reason is I feel I need to do better to improve.
As i don't enjoy my art where it is right now.
So i decided to get some art books!

This series has been suggested a lot so i decided to get two of the books.
My dad got me the hands and feet of the Morpho books and I bought just yesterday the simplified shapes for anatomy and very excited
to practice on my art.

I'll have to update with the pictures lately as i have an extremely low quality phone.
so I have to ask my sister to help me take pictures.

That sounds awesome! I'm sure the books will help a lot and give some inspiration! :)

I've been in the same boat as you lately. I haven't been drawing much because I know I need to improve, so I recently ordered a book from 21 Draw called the Illustrator's Guidebook. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm really excited for it to come. I plan to order more art books to add to my collection and I'm hoping I become disciplined enough to watch art lessons/ tutorials online lol.

I should check out the Morpho books, as well. As I'm looking them up they seem really interesting and surely beneficial. ^^

@Ark: for me i just had such bad stuff come up in September but even before then, anytime i post online i feel im not trying hard enough or being taken seriously as my income is from commissions.

and when i study photos i get such bad imposter syndrome that i just decided i need to study and not post online for the time being.

morpho book series is very detailed and even goes in depth with muscle and bone structure.

(˵◕ ᴥ ◕˵)ノ Hello there

Oh god that reminds me of all the "how to draw manga/anime" books i bought in my very early teens lol.
However from my experience i imroved alot when i learnd about anatomy tricks. Like an eyeball is an eyeball apart, your feet are as big as your forearms, A human is normally 7 to 80 heads tall ect.
+ live models, sadly my school didnt allow nude models (the school had difrent courses and the art one was less funded then the others + the princeple didnt rly like that idea...) However i do know i know of people that went to a nude drawing session? not sure what its called but i thought that was intresting

Monthly i get my "my art sucks" phase and ill feel misreble then bc i love art. Its especially rough for e when i see somebody whos way younger then me being way better (i know not to compare oneself with another but its not simple lol).
However i try to look at my old art and see the improvement ive already achieved wich helps me get more motivated

@GoblinsAndTea: since im going towards a more realistic approach in my art i'm going much deeper than proportions so like muscle and bone structure as i just hate my art so much i cant even make art anymore.

im mostly a digital artist but my laptop has so many restrictions it makes it even harder to do basic studies

Sometimes it helps to take photos of yourself as a reference just to practice some poses or lighting. It can also be helpful for mapping out shadows, especially if you're going for a more realistic approach. I definitely draw a more cartoonish/anime style, but once I started using myself as a reference point in a mirror, I definitely improved on just seeing how everything worked on a mechanical level.

Drawing muscles and bones are interesting and all, but they did jack shit for me when it came to drawing a real person. Part of it is that I just didn't really know how a muscle worked, you know? You can see the muscles of the shoulder, but if you don't know that one muscle will overlap the other or swells in a certain way, then it doesn't help with drawing something more exaggerated. For that, I just keep a reference of sketches.

All in all, though, you'll improve with practice and eventually develop your own style.

@blue: I can't really take photos with my phone as my phone is such poor quality it just comes out blurry XD
so i can't actually see the photos well. and not good lighting.
I'm supposed to get a new phone, just no clue when. XD

For the meantime, i'm just working on shapes and studying photos online as that's all I can really do.
For me, since i got my new books It's been helping me a ton to learn the muscle and bone structure. It's not an in-depth about it.
But it helps with simple shapes so I am understanding a lot more as tutorials, and any other resource online didn't do anything for me.
