I know it's been like 6 months since I posted, but whenever I had art or whatever questions I would always as y'all for help and I don't know who else to ask.

So...
Anyone know anything about vtubing? I wanna change up my twitch streams to vtuber I think, because I get so anti-streaming sometimes cause I just don't want to show my face sometimes. >.<
I use OBS to stream, and I tested VTube Studio and it looks all good.
But now I need to buy a Vtuber model and I don't know any artists that do that kind of thing. It's hard to know who to trust, you know.
And a 'rigger' I guess? If the artist doesn't do it. I don't really get what it all means, but rigging seems to be setting it up to animate in vtube studio. (??) Sounds like I can get a rigger pretty cheap on like fiverr or whatever, so I'm not so worried about that.

If anyone knows any trusty artists/riggers or has any information about vtubing or knows a trusted guide or anything, please let me know.

PS, also let me know if you want to be discord friends! I miss my people here!

@Lina:
Have you considered starting/messing with Vroid studio?
Its quite versatile, lots of options and can add/make your own textures too or download free/or buy assets for them too in other places
Its available for free on steam and their are a lot of tutorials online. (:

My advice for starting vtuber. don't jump straight into getting a 2d model yet. they are highly expensive depending how detailed your design and model will be and rigging them takes months and even up to a year in some cases.
Start out with a pngtuber as you don't know if you will like it. Vtubing is not for everyone, even if you already are a streamer. PNGtubers are way less expensive, so in case you don't like it, you won't waste thousands of $$ on a model you'll never use. Some PNG models are $50 and so on. But it's better to try out that first before you fully decide you want to get a vtubing model.

Model art and rigging are different. In Some cases the artists can do both, but rigging is a lot more expensive. Rigging will be how to animate it and the model to move. The model art isn't just the art but every single piece of the design is cut and on a different layer to make it easy for the rigger to animate and rig it which is normally done in cubeism Live2d.

Vgen is the best place you can go to for rigging however. I know some great riggers/artists I follow over there. I highly discourage people going to fiverr however because it's quite easily to get scammed there. Vgen is more secure as 99% of the commissions I see are for vtubers/Pngtubers and they have a bit more of a secure platform. I'm unsure if you need an account there since I've never ordered there, but only offered my services.

I am planning to get into vtubing, but I'm making everything myself because I want to try new things out within my art. Mine is still in the design phase, but I have a sample vtuber model to practice rigging.

As for discord in case you want to add me, I'm MoodyBats #4198 there. I know quite a bit about vtubing as I'm planning to get into it myself, but it won't happen until I move out due to personal issues with irl matters im experiencing. Though I'd love to make models if I get good enough lol. But feel free to ask me questions and I'll try to answer them as best as I can. I'm not fully experienced in rigging and vtubing[yet]. but I know quite a lot of knowledge about it.

Thanks a lot guys!!

@Siron: I have a friend who uses Vroid studio, and he said he would come over to my place and show me how to use it so I can see if I like it. He set it up himself, but I'm always so critical of my own art I think I would hate every second my own art was on my screen. >.<

@MoodyB: I was looking up PNGtubers online and it sounded like they push a button to change the look of the model, but that was maybe just 1 program. But it sounded awkward so I wasn't leaning that direction. I get what you mean about trying a cheaper option first though!
I was looking on fivver and it seemed like average $300 for fully body art and rigging. Or less for just the art files and rigging separately. And solo riggers seemed about $50. Most jobs were 1-2 week time to do it. So honestly hearing that is can be thousands seems wild. I'll look at vgen though if it's easier to get scammed at fivver. (I've never used either before)
Thanks for the advice! I was a little afraid to just jump into YouTube videos and stuff like that, because I don't want to learn a bunch of misinformation or outdated information. This helped a lot!

@Lina: Yeah. I never recommend Fiverr because usually scams and people who often only do art as a hustle use the site.
Not saying there aren't good people on there, but the quality may end up being lower. Vgen has so many artists though and it's for artists and it's just recommended but yes vtuber models are very expensive.

The highest I actually heard was $10k. But, granted her model has a lot of jewelry. So it really depends on the overall design and rate the artists. The one rigger I do follow seems pretty affordable.

But yeah i do recommend pngtubers even if they aren't as flowy or smooth like the 2d models, it's better to try it out because some people like the idea of vtubing, but then they end up absolutely hating it and I don't want you to waste a ton of money since paying a rigger can be costly.

No problem. I try to help whenever I can. I just have so much information of art in general as art is my job XD so Im always finding out new information and I do also watch a ton of vtubing videos since I'm currently learning rigging and all that lol.

I can't imagine ever being at a point when I would spend 10k on a vtubing model. Not that they aren't worth that much, but I've never had that much money in my life, much less that much spending money. Wild

Thank you so much! I'll totally look into this

@Lina: Haha yeah. And her model is quite huge but she also is not just a vtuber but has been a cover singer and a singer in general on the internet for 13 years so that also may contribute to affording such a model lol. But she is super cool. But yeah most people don't spend that amount. But I'll keep a look out too for other options too in case. The one i did sent she has been opening her commissions[i get notifications] XD

Also keep in mind the details of your model will also be harder on your computer too. If your model has a ton of toggles+details and such
you'll need quite a strong computer. So keep that in mind too.
