Forums General Chit-Chat That's just rude

Donator — 0% Edible Posted 7 years ago ( 2018/03/11 20:19:09 )
Man I hate standing behind lotto players at the store. Once had a dude stand their scratching off, trading in, scratching off, repeat. Four times. All while the line grew.
The lady in front of me today wasn't the worst, but a 12 pack of beer and an 18 pack of beer gets heavy. >w< and I'm forced to carry that shit alone. Note the booze isn't for me.

Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!

Try being the person behind the counter while that is happening. At my store, we usually only have one register open at a time, and the person on duty is also responsible for keeping the front end clean and keeping the coffee fresh.

We have one guy who comes in to buy lotto, usually spends around $200 a pop. He will stand there, scratch his tickets, and get upset if I walk away. Meanwhile, the line is growing, the coffee is stale, and I am getting complains and/or being yelled at by customers because of the coffee.

It seriously sucks.
We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

Thing is this store put in a vending machine to get them to stop holding up the lines, but they just keep doing it anyway.

@Another Movie Addict: My store kind of has an unspoken policy to bend over backwards for this guy. A while back, he won big, and gave a bunch of my coworkers around $450 each from his winnings, since he won it at our store. So I can't really be rude to this guy, or force him to move while he plays his tickets, because he is really generous with his winnings and tends to bring the local media to our store - and that means more business for us.

I am an asshole and I wouldn't have been nice. I can understand why Mellonin has to be since they work there but I wouldn't have been.

I can't stand people who think that they are the only ones in the world. I was banned from pushing carts in the supermarket by both my late wife and Janna because I road rage with them. I slam it into others ankles on purpose if they annoy me enough.

@Shamrock Shamus: Yeah, I'm not nearly that nice. The worst I might do is sigh loudly behind somebody in the supermarket who is going too slowly, or taking up the whole aisle, and then complain about them after.

@Shamrock Shamus: I may have tripped a few children at the store. Got annoyed with their running around and getting in the way.

Wow, that Is rude, in so many different ways...
I'm of the opinion that ppl who drink beer buy their own. Nobody's boozing on my money.

@Shamrock Shamus: wow I need to take some tips from u. I'm way too nice. One of these days an unfortunate soul will have their head bitten off.

@Eruca: Wasn't my money. They just sent my brother and me to go get it for them. My brother didn't want to go in, so that left me carrying a lot of very heavy beer by myself.

@Eruca: That's family annoyance I can swallow my pride and live with. It's ass holes that play lotto at the counter, that I can't stand. Especially since most stores only have on register open at a time.

@Mellonin: I now just try to sigh loudly as well. As a kid, I was taught that being aggressive was the only way for boys to behave (I wasn't raised well) but as an adult I have been learning how to interact with people in non aggressive ways when I am stressed. I have come very far but I still am unable to just sigh in the supermarket. Lol

@Another Movie Addict: Pft. Sometimes I wish I could do so to without being a hypocrite. But I have 11 children and sometimes I am the parent with my kids running around everywhere. I also was that kid who would not stop running around in the store. I have ADHD and as a kid, it wasn't being treated. So I had so much energy that I didn't know what to do with myself. I was so bad that at the bank my mum had to lay me down on my stomach so she could put her foot on my back. Otherwise I would run off and destroy everything. I was also forced to sit in the cart until I was 8 because I was a little shit. One of my teacher referred to me as the "White Tornado". It was a factor in my behavioral issues at school and I had one teacher who bent over backwards to try to help me have a good year. She allowed me to march in place at my desk to help me with my energy levels, as long as I stayed at my own desk and didn't try to bother anyone else.

Also, I am a teacher and if a student, their parents or my coworkers ever saw me trip a kid at the supermarket, it wouldn't go over well.

@Eruca: Lol I hate being nice when someone does shit like we've talked about in this thread. I feel like a door mat if I am. But just don't overdo the assertiveness.

@Another Movie Addict: Lol same here. I can tolerate my kids just fine...because I am their Dad, I guess. But other people's kids are the worst.

@Eruca: You can be assertive without being an asshole. But I have anger issues like Intermittent Explosive Disorder and I have terrible impulse control. So usually when I am being assertive, I do so in a way that is pretty awful...which is more like being aggressive. Lol
