"That's what I figured." Ash responded.
"Plus, it would be foolish of me to think that having the knowledge of this would be the answer to solving this war between you and the shifters." he went on.
He then sighed and shook his head a little.
"Damn." he muttered.
"But how the hell did they know?" he then asked.
"I'm sure I kept your presence here secret enough..." he said.

"They are crafty beings." Kylie answered.
"They are ones that will use anything and everything they can to finish their task.... along with that... there are sections of shifters that have banded together specifically to hunt for faes." She added with a sigh.
"It's very possible that on the way here... we flew by one of those bands."
"Well, crap." Ash muttered.
"Hm." he mumbled.
"Well, I'll try and keep you safe." he told her.
"If not here, then at the guild." he went on.
"I promise."
"Hm." he mumbled.
"Well, I'll try and keep you safe." he told her.
"If not here, then at the guild." he went on.
"I promise."
Kylie didn't say anything before nodding.
"Thank you." She said after a moment.
"Have you considered anything for a possible wish for me to grant?" She then asked after a moment or two. She wasn't entirely sure what it was that she was to think here. She wasn't trying to force him to be quick or anything, but she was curious.
"....yeah." Ash replied.
"I have." he said.
"Speaking with a few people, getting their perspectives..." he went on.
"It's helped me narrow down some choices." he told her.
"I should be ready to make the actual wish very soon."
"I have." he said.
"Speaking with a few people, getting their perspectives..." he went on.
"It's helped me narrow down some choices." he told her.
"I should be ready to make the actual wish very soon."
Kylie nodded.
"All right then." She said with a soft smile.
"Do remember... I have nigh on no limits. I have not found any thus far." She reminded him.
"You could ask for anything."
"I know." Ash replied.
"But I realize that there is a delicate balance to time and space." he said.
"I need to make sure my wish doesn't disrupt anything major." he went on.
"Unintended rippling consequences can ruin a reality." he muttered.
"Regardless, I just have to narrow down a few options, and you can be on your way." he continued.
"...actually, I should have my decision tonight." he then added.
"But I realize that there is a delicate balance to time and space." he said.

"...actually, I should have my decision tonight." he then added.
Kylie nodded.
"That makes sense." She commented.
"It's rare that people who have a chance to get something of this variety... well, people don't usually consider more than just them." She commented.
"It's... refreshing, actually."
"Heh." Ash chuckled.
"Well, see, thing is, overall, my life's good." he told her.
"And I wouldn't change anything about it." he said.
"Sure, some things aren't optimal, but perfection doesn't exist." he continued.
"And, yeah, I've been taught about the butterfly effect, and how even the kindest of deeds done with the noblest of intentions can make things even worse." he told her.
"Road to hell, etc. etc." he murmured.
"But the more I think about it... yeah, I should be ready to make the wish tonight." he said.
"You got a safe place to be after I make it?" he asked her.
"Well, see, thing is, overall, my life's good." he told her.
"And I wouldn't change anything about it." he said.

"You got a safe place to be after I make it?" he asked her.
Kylie just smiled softly.
"I don't need a safe place. Fae magic can take me where I can't be tracked." She stated before pausing.
"I'll just fly high." She added. "The shifters sensors or whatever tend to only go so high into the atmosphere."
"Huh." Ash muttered.
"That's pretty cool." he said.
"Right then." he went on.
"The sooner I make the wish, the better." he reasoned.
He then leaned forward, and seemed to be concentrating hard.
"Hmmmm...." he mumbled.
"Mmmm.... mmhmmmmm..." he muttered further.
"Hey... Kylie?" he then addressed her.
"You can see into the future, right?" he asked.
"If so, how far?" he asked further.
Kylie paused a moment.
"I can see almost impolssibly far." She answered.
"But you have to realize that the closer it is, the more accurate the answer will be." She then said. "The farther out, the less likely it is that I will be right due to events changing what will happen in the future."
"Huh." Ash muttered.
"Hmmmmmm." he mumbled.
"All right." he said.
"Let's say... a year." he commented.
"Is anything within a year from now still clear material?" he asked.
"Because I know what I want to wish for." he told her.
"Just... want to be sure how accurate the info's gonna be."
"Hmmmmmm." he mumbled.
"All right." he said.
"Let's say... a year." he commented.
"Is anything within a year from now still clear material?" he asked.
"Because I know what I want to wish for." he told her.
"Just... want to be sure how accurate the info's gonna be."
Kylie nodded.
"Generally, nothing drastic that will alter the future happens within a year." She stated.
"It's always possible, but it's very likely that the answer I give will be completely accurate." She added.
"All right." Ash replied.
"Then here goes." he said.
"Ashley, the woman I love, is currently pregnant with my child." he told her.
"Given the genetic differences between us, pregnancy in and of itself had a low chance of happening... but as happy as I am, I find myself worrying about things going wrong between now and birth." he said.
"So..." he went on, before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
"I wish to know if my child will be born healthy, without complications." he declared.
"Then here goes." he said.

"So..." he went on, before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
"I wish to know if my child will be born healthy, without complications." he declared.
Kylie was silent for a moment.
"That is ... a far lighter and more innocent request than I had expected." She admitted after a moment.
"Your child will be fine. There will be no complications with the pregnancy, nor the birthing process." She continued.
"But, as a warning, when your child reaches the age of seven, they will take after your mother in terms of a genetic condition."
Ash just smiled as Kylie said what she did... but the smile faded at the end.
"...I'm sorry?" he asked.
"A... genetic condition?" he asked further.
"Can I get any more information than that?" he then inquired.
"Or... hm. Is this something I need to figure out for myself?"
"...I'm sorry?" he asked.
"A... genetic condition?" he asked further.
"Can I get any more information than that?" he then inquired.
"Or... hm. Is this something I need to figure out for myself?"
Kylie just chuckled.
"Think of your mother. You'll figure it out quite easily." She stated after a moment.
"You are smart enough to figure it out. You don't need me to tell you that much."
Ash blinked a couple of times, before smacking his forehead.
"D'uh." he said.
"And you say my wish was a far lighter and more innocent request than you had expected?" he asked her.
"Not sure how to take that." he admitted.
"But my life is good. I don't want to change anything about it, and I don't want to mess with the timestream or whatever." he told her.
"And I feel this wish isn't all THAT important in the grand scheme of the world." he continued.
"But it's the world to ME." he finished.
"D'uh." he said.
"And you say my wish was a far lighter and more innocent request than you had expected?" he asked her.
"Not sure how to take that." he admitted.

"But it's the world to ME." he finished.
"There is no shame in deterrence. Having a weapon is very different from actually using it." - Ghandi
Kylie just laughed lightly.
"Of course." She said. "Just because something isn't a huge deal to the world, doesn't mean it's a small thing for the people involved."
"And it's personal requests that are the most rewarding to fulfill, as well"
