It just occurred to me that my very first thought was a diet though I don't see the fit for the first part.

I'm thinking of a book. You carass the spine and gingerly touch the pages, opening up a whole universe barely contained in words. It's a school textbook, brimming full of knowledge, or an old almanac with torn pages and scribbles in different pens, by different hands, or your favourite book, the most wonderful story ever written. It stands silent, unnoticed, expecting eager hands and thirsty eyes to feast on every speck of color it creates, every sunset and every cry. No words spoken, no wonder visible to the world. Words and phrases, page after page, they all exist, they're all real just for you.

You can get rid of it, cause who needs an old radio, i do but that's not the point, we've got youtube now
or prize it because it plays great songs
get lost with it, get carried away by it's music
and the last part, especially when in a car, shotgun gets to be the DJ, no one else is welcome
