What turned you onto websites like Voltra?

I really liked the cute avi's and since my old home closed I could use a new one. I tried 3 other avi sites but one is not active enough, didn't like the avi's on the other one, and the last one became a place full of spam.
A long, long time ago, I was on a forum website, but I became bored with it. I decided to search for another forum website and came across gaia.
I got tired of the trolls and spam after a while, so I went to look for something similar. Several websites later, here we are.

I heard about Voltra on another avi site, and I thought I would check it out.

@BunnyDr00l: that is an understatement. A few years ago, they released gold generators. You could buy them with real money and they would give you a lot of the sites currency. People got more gold on hands and the prices went up.
You can be there nowadays with billions on gold and be poor.
Yeah, Gaia is a nightmare and always has been. I started there over a decade ago. I grew up in the woods and the internet was my main connection to other people, so Gaia and Solia were my main source of social interaction. I still like forum sites because I struggle with verbal communication and in person interactions, so interacting and making friends offline is very hard.
I’m specifically drawn to Voltra because I love the modern layout and active community. I’m always on the lookout for more sites to try if anyone has a suggestion.

@Tuijp: that’s terrible about the gold generators. I know people used to use bots to spam and make gold against the rules, so I guess it was happening anyway and the owners were like “why not”
@keef: I'm always on the look out for more sites too! I'm home a lot and live in a small down so its hard to find friends :/

@BunnyDr00l: there were more things they didn't think through. Such as firing everyone who was working on their most successful game called zOmg and rereleasing an old popular item for $1,000.
@Tuijp: jeeeeeezus why are they like this. I did play zomg for a hot minute some years ago. It was arguably the best part of the site.

He's gone now and zOmg is back. They also haven't released any gold generators.
