"Hm." Darrel mumbled.

"Well, I'll look for your Mom." he told her.

"I don't want to potentially barge in one of your Dad's sessions with a client." he reasoned.

He then left the room as Sammy laid down on her bed, and made his way downstairs... where he was promptly met by Kitt, approaching him and sniffing him all over. Before he could say anything, she then nipped his shirt, and led him outside.

When he saw Casey sitting in one of the lawn chairs, he understood that the large black feline was doing.

Darrel nodded.

"She's in her bed." he said.

"I think she needs to be looked at though." he told her.

"Like, by Rene." he went on.

He then told her what he'd walked into, what he knew, and showed her the empty syringe.

"If your husband isn't busy, I can go and tell him this as well." he told her. "I don't know if you're going to see Sammy, call Rene, or contact the Council and/or Triad, but yeah." he mumbled.

"That's the situation, as is."

Darrel just shrugged in response.

"All right." he replied.

"I don't know if your husband is busy or not, so... I mean... yeah." he mumbled.

"She's back, and odds are she needs medical attention." he said.

"And those that hurt her need to be taken in before they regain consciousness."

Darrel nodded in response.

"All right then." he responded.

He then took out his phone and started to dial a number on it.

"If she hears the ringtone she set for me, she'll answer quickly." he told Casey, as a hole opened up in the ground in front of him, and he stepped through it, appearing where Sammy had been kept prisoner.

"Hey, Grandma? Can you come to where I am?" he asked when she answered, giving his location.

Lindsay, who had just finished with a patient, had left the door open and was just putting away some papers, looked over at the doorway when he heard the knocking and the voice.

"Oh, Casey." he said.

"What's going on?" he asked, stepping out from behind his desk.

"Anything new develop, regarding Samantha?" he asked her further.

Lindsay was silent as Casey said what she did.

She saw the relief in his eyes... which was immediately followed by concern and unease.

"...you mentioned Rene." he said.

"What happened to Samantha?" he asked.

And just then, as timing would have it, Rene called Casey's cell phone.

"I'll be there in a few minutes." Rene responded.

With that, the call was ended, and Lindsay sighed.

"Right." he said.

"You don't know the details." he commented, having heard her end of the conversation.

"What DO you know?" he asked.

"........." Lindsay was silent, before sitting down.

"At least she's home." he said.

"At least she's alive." he said further.

About 10 seconds later, they felt Rene's mana in their home.

-About an hour later-

Casey and Lindsay were now in the den, waiting for Rene to show up with information.

And show up, he did. He stepped into the room, and sighed.

"Well, then." he said.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Lindsay asked.

"Oh, she'll make a full recovery." Rene responded. "But someone reeeeeeally didn't like her." he commented further.

"Well, she was injected with a mana inhibitor." Rene replied.

"Then, it seemed she was continuously doused in cold water, zapped with electric mana, and they took blades to her." he went on.

"Good Lord..." Lindsay said in a hushed tone.

"There's more news." Rene commented.

"I managed to get the junk out of her system, and she's healing... quite well." he told them.

"Amazingly well. And yes, so soon."

Rene sighed.

"Yeah." he responded.

"The whole 'wings' thing." he said.

"...so... what you're saying is..." Lindsay said, trailing off a little.

"She takes after you in ANOTHER regard." Rene finished.

"Regardless, she'll be fine."
