Jackson was silent for a moment as he heard that.

"...maybe they DID say goggles..." he mumbled.

"Did the specify...?" he wondered aloud.

"Actually, if I recall correctly, they just said that they would provide special unique-prescription lenses for me." he then said, remembering it.

"So no, they never actually specified." he continued.

"Yeah, it'll probably be goggles." he told her.

"I'll stand out a bit, but... well... my eyes do that for me, alone." he reasoned with a small sigh.

"You'll see them when I get what they have for me."

Jackson looked at her when she said that, and raised an eyebrow.

"Really?" he asked.

"Heh." the driver chuckled.

"I do know who she is referring to, and odds are he'll take a particular liking to you." he commented.

"Oh?" Jackson asked.

"Huh." he mumbled.

"Interesting." he said. "Can't wait to see how THAT works out..."

"Well, Ana rolls off the tongue nicely." Jackson responded.

"So that works for me, as long as it works for you." he told her.

"And as I said, you can call me Jack, or J." he said.

"Very few people actually call me 'Jackson'." he admitted.

"And this is gonna be weird..." he mumbled, looking out the window.

"What is?" the driver asked.

"Joining school halfway through the year." Jackson clarified.

"....that makes sense." Jackson responded.

"And... yeah. I'd... rather not talk about why I've suddenly found myself changing schools." he mumbled.

"Everyone has something in their past they regret." the driver commented.

"Mm." Jackson mumbled.

"Guess I just need to see what they do to integrate me into the school." he then said further.

"And see if I can't find my way around."

"Not right now, anyway." Jackson replied.

"Just... not at the moment." he said quietly.

"...." there was then silence for a few moments, before the driver cleared his throat.

"We'll be there shortly." he told them.

"Shortly?" Jackson asked.

"Well... in about a half-hour." the driver clarified.

"I know some shortcuts." he chuckled.

"It... seems so." Jackson admitted.

"And the bus would have only gotten me so close. I'd have needed to walk a fair distance." he said.

"Yes, well, that's by choice on the school's behalf." the driver responded. "The school is in a remote place, so that the students can study in relative peace." he explained.

"...that makes sense." Jackson admitted.

"But yes, you are fortunate to have run into Anatasia." the driver then told him.

"Seems so." Jackson responded with a small smile.

"Well, that's good." Jackson replied.

The rest of the drive contained mostly small talk, but a lot of it was silence... until the car pulled up in front of one of the most impressive and imposing buildings Jackson had ever seen.

Not so much that it towered over him, but it spanned the grounds everywhere, and it was clear that the acreage was being used to the max... and there was a LOT of it.

"....woah..." he mumbled in awe.

"Impressive, isn't it?" the driver asked.

"Welcome to your new home." he told the young male.

"Yes, thanks." Jackson said to Devin as well, climbing out of the car.

When they both exited the vehicle, Devin pulled away, and Jackson watched the car disappear in the distance.

"Ah, yeah." he then said to Ana.

"I really should get to head office." he agreed.

"And you'll get me there? Sweet." he then said, as the two of them started to make their way to the building.

As they walked, they both noticed students milling about, and many of them were looking at Jackson, and then whispering, some of them chuckling.

"Ugh." Jackson mumbled.

"Really don't like having to wear these shades. They make me look like a douche." he said further.

Jackson raised an eyebrow when she said that.

"Weird?" he asked.

"...somehow there's a bit of hypocrisy in a mutant thinking another mutant is 'weird'..." he commented.

"But maybe that's just me." he mumbled.

"Regardless, I'll actually be happy to be rid of the shades." he admitted.

"Just... yeah, do not care for them at all." he sighed.

"Huh. Clever." Jackson responded.

"That's a really good idea." he said further.

"Guess they really know what they're doing here." he chuckled, before sighing.

"I just need to integrate myself." he said quietly.

"No idea how easy or hard it'll be, but I need to try." he said further.

"Oh, and I've also heard that the staff here are quite famous." he then commented.
