@Amber Lynne: I am not an accomplished writer and storyteller so I don't generally know where to begin. I find the most fleshed out ones are the ones I play DnD with. They go on adventures and grow, they end up feeling like real people to me. Its a super helpful game for people who aren't good at writing haha

@Amber Lynne: My previous DnD campaigns died really early on so I have literally just one OC with a fleshed out backstory...and frontstory. XD The others are just blank...babies? I really hope to have many more of them in my life. But for now I am very grateful for the one.

@Saeyra: Awww
Always unfortunate when a game ends early.
But fair enough =)

@Amber Lynne: I love to read so I have super high standards for writing and that probably is a huge barrier for me to start writing my own stories. The plot is never good enough, the characters are never interesting enough. With DnD its kinda sink or swim. You get thrown in the deep end and it doesn't matter if your character is interesting or not. You have to answer "what is your character gonna do?"

@Saeyra: That makes sense.
See, I stasrted created characters because of my love of reading.
In highschool, I'd wanted to publish a book. Lol

@Amber Lynne: Oh really? Cool! Who are your favorite authors?

Donator — Female Posted 6 years ago ( 2018/12/19 04:30:23 )

@Saeyra: That's a really good question, lol.
Hmmmmm
Terry Goodkind is definitely among the top 3
Clive Barker (although I've only read one book, but it's one of my fave books)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand
Dean Koontz I suppose.
Kelley Armstrong's pretty good too. Although I read hers in highschool. Lol. Soooo that might not be my opinion now if I were to re read her stuff. XD

Yours?

@Amber Lynne: Oh so manyyyy..Terry Pratchett, J.R.R Tolkien, Tamora Pierce, Oscar Wilde, Eoin Colfer, J.K. Rowling, Patrick Rothfuss, Megan Whalen Turner, Jonathan Stroud, Edgar Allan Poe, Diana Wynne Jones, Victor Hugo, Jane Austen, Mark Twain, Alexandre Dumas. (hope I am not missing any)
There are so many of the classics I haven't read yet and so little time!

I haven't really heard of the ones you mentioned before but I will check them out! Thanks for the recommendations!

@Saeyra: Terry Goodkind wrote the 'Sword of Truth' series.
If you saw the short lived TV show: Legend of the Seeker
Then you have an intro to the series. I promise the books are better though.

Clive Barker, I can't say much for his writing. I just adore the book 'The Thief of Always'. READ IT
I haven't read anything else. XD

Dean Koontz is one tha tpeople often compare to Stephen King and not like.

Kelley Armstrong wrote the series 'Women of the Underworld' I think is what it's called.

=)
