My coworker coughs constantly.. Even when he uses a cough drop. ><;
Some days I can handle it and ignore it, others.. not so much.
Blaring music in my ears can get a bit headache inducing though...

Today is definitely one of those days where it'll drive me up the wall and make me tense but there's not much I can do so I'll just vent to you all~~~

>.< I'm usually that person. I suffer from allergies so I often will have a cough. It sucks when you know you're being obnoxious but can't do anything about it.

@Priestess of Pie:
; ; I feel for you, I know it'd suck.
This guy is sick and he has to be asked to take the day off or stay home if he's sick otherwise he will be right here.
( we have paid sick days so come on man!! )

@Selaphi: Yeah if your sick and vacation hours are separate there's really no reason not to take off when you're ill. I know deadlines are a thing but you're just getting everyone else sick too.

I'm fortunate that I can work from home when I'm sick now.

@Priestess of Pie:
Amen to that. The days of having to choose between being sick and not being paid are thankfully over for now.
I truly feel for people who have to go to work sick when they need rest.

@Selaphi: At my last job it was super bad. We had to PLEAD with people to stay home when they were sick. To be fair though, we didn't get a lot of paid time off, and what we did was shared between sick and vacation and people wanted to keep their vacation because that was a really stressful work environment. We passed strep around like candy. =( I got it twice in a row once.

I wouldn't be so annoyed if it wasn't constant. He supposedly won't go to the doctor either.
Oh well, I have my music until it goes away.

What brand of cough drop is he using? It's possible some work better than others.

Ahahaha... sometimes even with the very effective drops like ricola or halls, I still cough. ._. But at least I stay home when I'm that sick.

I didn't have any luck with Ricola. There's a Chinese brand I buy for a friend that she swears by; it's very strong so she typically only uses it for when her sore throat is VERY bad. I have some Ryukakusan brand ones and they're not bad.

I tend to buy different ones for sore throat than for cough. I also try to get sugar free because sometimes I need them to sleep through the night and nothing is worse than sugarmouth in the morning. (⋟﹏⋞)

Ryukakusan works for coughs but only as long as it's in your mouth, in my experience. I'd have to ask the person if the Chinese ones I get work for her cough as well.

ETA: She said they help with the cough as well. I can't remember what brand they are; they're in a blue and green striped box.

Hmm I'll have to see if they have them at one of the Asian supermarkets here.

I looked up 'chinese cough drops' and it's the first one that comes up for me - the brand is called Golden. They're usually near the checkouts in the stores I've been in.
