"Heh." Jackson chuckled.

"I've been learning that." he told her, taking another bite of the food he got.

"But yeah, so far, so good." he said.

"...my maths are slipping, though." he then admitted.

"I'm normally a B student, but... well... lately it seems that I'm slipping down to a B-." he told her.

"Which, it's still good... but if this keeps on, I'll be failing pretty soon." he went on.

"Do you have any idea why your math is dropping?" She asked afgter a moment, her voice curious.

"Because... if anyone is to improve a grade, they need to know why that grade needs to be improved. As in, what the cause of the drop is."

"Trig." Jackson responded.

"I can't figure it out for the life of me." he told her.

"I can do math. I'm fine with numbers. I'm even fine with letters in algebra." he went on. "But add angles and shapes and stuff? Nope." he went on.

"I just... I can't." he muttered.

"No matter how much I pay attention or try to drill it in my brain, it doesn't take."

"took me years to be able to actually do it adequately myself" She added after a few seconds. "However, I have managed to reach quite a skilled level by this time in my life." She paused.

"Unlife? Imitation life? I have never been sure as to phrase that."

"Maybe call your host states 'cycles'?" he offered.

"I've been mulling over that for generations. I really adoubt that will change anytime soon." She commented with a light laugh.

"Anyhow, we can start next week, all right? Give me time to talk with your teach about your grades and get some sort of an idea as to what will be coming up in the course."

"Hell, pulling B 's to A-'s in the rest." he went on.

"But... trig's screwin' me up." he admitted, shaking his head.

"Let me know whenever you get any sort of schedule or info."

"Beyond that, is there anything else I've missed while I've been busy for a bit?" She asked with a light laugh.

"You say you've been busy." he commented.

"A variety of things, really." Ana said after a moment.

'There was a lot, I haven't even been able to even consider attending the classes either. Being, essentially, the TA is more work than one would expect overall."

"The biggest thing that could have happened lately was simply the fact that there was one hell of a mess to be cleaned up in the lab, hence why there were no science classes for the past week and a half."

"We were scheduled for mostly lab work this month, but that was cancelled pretty abruptly." he said. "So now we're given a free period, but encouraged to work ahead in the textbook." he went on.

"Which... I have been..." he admitted.

"But that must have been a pretty big incident to cause the lab to be shut down like this." he then commented.

"What happened?"

"I am not entirely sure on the details, but from what I am aware of, it was a issue of one student deciding to try and blow up half the school." Ana answered with a sigh.

"Suffice to say, it was learned quite quickly that they are one that has a specialty that does not mix well with chemicals."

"I... wow." he mumbled.

"Well... at least they DIDN'T blow up the school." he said.

"That would have been... disastrous, to put it VERY mildly." he commented further.

"Guess that means no more lab work for a while." he then went on. "Odds are every fine detail will be gone through and cleaned up, and probably some reevaluation of some things." he sighed.

"A shame. I rather enjoy lab work in science." he then lamented.

"And yes, I completely agree. At least the school is still standing. And no one was truly injured in the event, as well."

"I mean, I assume you are. Seems Alex didn't lay a hand on you, and I know you're strong." he said with a shrug.

"...but I still feel I should ask."

"Does the amount they can take vary from person to person?" he asked. "Er... host to host?" he then clarified after a moment.

"And is it less than how much they would have taken when alive?" he asked further.

"If I were to hazard a guess, it would be about half of the abuse that they would have been able to withstand before they died." Ana answered honestly.

"Once they are dead, the bodies are a bit weaker, unfortunately." She added.

"So your hosts are more frail, meaning you need to try and avoid physical conflict whenever possible." he said, scratching at his chin and taking a bite of food.

"That's gotta suck." he commented.

"Though I've noticed you're good at avoiding physical fights. Or, well, you're confident in them, anyway." he clarified further.

"You've had a while to learn such things, so again, makes sense." he then added.

"It took me quite awhile to learn that.Usually those that wish to fight want an easy target. If you beg them to stop, you seem easier. If you stand tall and counter them, the encounter is less likely to be an attack." She paused a moment.

"In my experiences, anyhow."
