I saw this earlier but was on my phone. And then told myself to come back. Well took long enough XD
Halo Soundtrack
Halo 3 Soundtrack
Unreal Sountrack
Got another recommendation: Guild Wars 2 Soundtrack
@Apollo Im Burning: YESSS I love this one.
@Priestess of Pie: aayyyyy
-finger guns-
do you play? :3
@Apollo Im Burning: No I just dig the soundtrack. XD
@Priestess of Pie: lmao, well, I'm glad it's enjoyable on its own, then.
pls don't
Bravely Default
Child of Light
My college had a student-run ensemble/orchestra that performed only video game music. I loved going to their concerts and discovering new songs... hearing 8-bit tracks rearranged into glorious orchestral music was amazing. Their pokemon medley nearly put me to tears tbh

@Hachi: Bravely soundtrack is SO GOOD. NNNNGGG. And that sounds rad as heck. Have you ever attended a Video Games Live concert?
@Priestess of Pie: I always thought about joining the ensemble bc it sounded so fun but let's be real I didn't have time for that HAHA
I haven't! But I should!! I miss going to video game music concerts so much
I think it's really great that there are groups out there spreading the love for these soundtracks. Honestly the music is so good but it's like... no one outside of gaming fandom knows??? ya'll missing out.

@Hachi: I played bassoon in high school but yeah, gosh. So much practice time. >.<
@Priestess of Pie: I'm happy you enjoyed it. C;
As a side note, visiting your profile is a treat. Octopath Traveler has a good soundtrack as well.

@Dowan: Ah yes, Octopath is definitely my pick for best soundtrack of 2018. ^^
There's a soundtrack from a pretty old game I loved (and still do to this very day) from my teenage years that I really loved, that being the OST for Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. I daresay the Shin Megami Tensei franchise shaped my tastes in music and art the moment I was made aware of it...and that was purely by accident! The Persona soundtracks (I'd say from Persona 1 ~ 5) have really good songs as well. That would be a lot of links tho.
For a more current soundtrack, I'd have to pick DOOM 2016. I really liked this one as it fit the game perfectly and works as great background music when thinking of action scenes. Gets me hyped super fast~

@KreitzeN: Thanks! I'll check those out. Even though I haven't really gotten to play much of the Persona series, I have enjoyed many songs from their soundtracks.
@Priestess of Pie: No problemo! Shoji Meguro rarely ever misses when it comes to composing music for the SMT franchise, and I'm happy to share his work!
Oh goodness, there's too many to even list
The classics include Mega Man, Duck Tales, Sonic the Hedgehog and so much more. I basically love everything the Sega Genesis sound card put out too so I'm heavily biased in that direction. I even own Rocket Knight Adventures on vinyl ahaha...

@Addy: lol you don't have to list them all, I'm just looking for jams I may not have heard. I'm big on the retro soundtracks too but not as familiar with the Sega side so feel free. Mega Man is on my heavy rotation lol. The indy scene has been a blessing for new chip tunes too.
@priestess of pie: ooo if we wanna talk regular chiptunes too i have some good ones to recommend! lemme dig up some classics you may not have heard, one moment ~
Sega Genesis:
Devilish - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqJQxWgOjJo
Rocket Knight Adventures - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=244ZH1DNHlI (Stage 7 is my fave!)
PC-88:
Ys II - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1BI30jz2Tg
This was by Yuzo Koshiro who did Streets of Rage and tons of other well-known sountracks
NES:
The Robocop series - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwod0hpDXeY
Mega Man 3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIkMbgcTg5s
Everybody raves about 2 but 3's also very, very good
Journey to Silius - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNCrpIL2XlY
That's just off the top of my head ... I used to have a huge collection of stuff, I really gotta rebuild my game soundtrack collection again. Spotify has spoiled me. ;w;
Speaking of Spotify, there's a surprisingly really good amount of real chiptune there too. Meganeko was a somewhat recent discovery!
