@Another Movie Addict: The 1986 miniseries version of A Little Princess is also super good. Extremely book-accurate. Probably one of my favorite things to watch, but almost impossible to find. :/

[ I love The Secret Garden, and I like the film adaptations of it too. I don't know what it is about A Little Princess that bothers me so much, can't even get into the Shirley Temple film version. ]
@Another Movie Addict: The plot of A Little Princess can be a bit hard to swallow, especially the more mainstream movie version. It’s just really difficult to believe that her dad finds her magically somehow at the end. Part of her character growth occurs through the lack of him, so it’s kind of a problem plot-wise to have him come back. I looveeeee the costumes, though, and own the soundtrack.
The Secret Garden is also in a miniseries version that is more book-accurate, but I can’t stand the actress they got to play Mary in that version. She does an AWESOME job at portraying how petulant and sour Mary was, but I can’t stand that type of personality. XD;;;
