Forums General Chit-Chat I Want More Plants!

Voltie — She/They Posted 6 years ago ( 2019/04/27 18:38:02 )
I've got lots of seeds. I don't have enough pots. Altho, I found a big nursery pot two days ago on one of my nature walks! So I'm probably putting my spider flower & delphinim seeds in it.

I'd love to start keeping plants!

If your area has any thrift stores you might find pots or pot-like objects to put your plants in for a good price.

True that. I used to buy large bowls from thrift stores and drill holes through the bottom and use them as pots.

@Kira: We have thrift stores, just none super close to my usual shopping points, tho that'll change when I get a bike. :)

I definitely plan to keep an eye out for those! I have repurposed 2 plastic storage boxes into "window containers" for my mint & catnip. xD

I hope you get some soon!

@Ixora: Yeah, I keep telling myself I need to get myself a drill sometime. I think that, a pasta roller, and a stand mixer are what I'll tell my fam to get me this christmas >.>

@Fellowsheep: If they're plastic you can just heat up the pointy bits of screwdrivers or nails to make holes in them.
I want a staaand mixer too! Or even just a handheld one ; __ ; curious how long it takes to whip egg whites by hand tho

@Ixora: I can tell you. I've done it so many times now. I'm surprised my arms aren't buff. It takes 2~2.5 hours for me to get mildly firm peaks. That's with 5 minute breaks every 10~15. Heh.

I love homemade angel cake man...

Haha, yeah, I just have my fiance force it with a box cutter. He's very good at it. I wanna do the thread n acetone thing with some wine & liquor bottles I've got.

@Fellowsheep: ah shoot. the main thing why I never try is cause idk what to do with the yolks @.@
That's a loooooong time

Oh that's so cool! Good luck and be careful! I heard it was pretty hard to get a perfect smooth cut i think... i watched a youtuber do it

@Ixora: Oh I do. Custards & hollaindaise sauces Other light but gooey sauces benefit from yolks as a tasty thickener, just gotta temper it. Or egg drop soup, minus the white strips... Hmm, french toast...

I swear I can come up with a ton xD Or ykno, put the yolk on your face, let it dry, and rinse it off.

Thank you! I plan to!

@Fellowsheep: I'm not the biggest fan of sauces but custards and hollandaise sounds good - love myself an eggs benedict (not that I would ever make one for myself lmao)
Egg drop soup is a fairly regular thing for me but yeah... no white strips XD

Face mask works too XD

You're welcome. Enjoy and enjoy drinking the wine if you haven't already lmao

@koneko: Good luck! :D I think my sage stems aren't producing new leaves.. But there's thyme, & oregano in there that are.

@mori: Aw! It took me 2~3 tries on a few plants. I'm on my 4th or 5th with Thyme. D:< Just grow, dangit!

@fellowsheep: mmmmm more plants are fun. tho I might have taken that too seriously. I have so many plants now I switched over to a garden hose, because filling the watering can multiple times was to much for me.

@Fellowsheep: fun fact: hollaindaise sauce isn’t from Holland, but from France and, in Europe, most popular in Germany
