Lindsay was silent, and then nodded.

"Okay." he replied.

"And yes, her name is Anna." he added.

With that, he made his way to Jake, and stepped up to him.

"I'm ready." he told him.

"Cool." Jake responded.

"Angela, we'll see you when we get back." he told the medic.

"Come on." he then said to Lindsay.

The two of them left, and the first thing they did was give Lindsay a shower, and a new change of clothing. The two then made their way to the cafeteria, where it was slightly busy, but Jake noticed a young girl with fox-like features sitting and eating.

"Hey Peyton!" he called to her with a wave.

The girl's ears twitched after Jake called for her, before she was looking around. Ojnce she saw Jake, and Lindsay although she didn't know who that was, she just waved. After the pair got themselves some food, they made their way over to where she was sitting.

'Have a seat." She said as she moved her bag from the table where it was ni teh way, so as to make sure they had the space. She then looked to Lindsay and smiled softly.

"I don't believe we've met. I'm Peyton." She said with a cute, charming, smile.

Lindsay was silent as Peyton greeted her, before just smiling back.

"....hi." he replied.

"I'm... I'm Lindsay." he told her.

"Heh." Jake chuckled.

"It's a bit of a long story, but the Unit's taking Lindsay and his friend in under our wing." he told Peyton.

"They were homeless and on the run."

Peyton just sighed as Jake said what he did.

"Not... not fun." She said.

"But at least now you're safe." She added with a smile.

"Sharp, the one who runs this place, seems to have a soft spot for those like us." The told him honestly. "A good number of us here have been in a very not ideal situation like that."

Lindsay nodded slowly, before pausing.

"Wait." he said.

"Those like us?" he asked.

Jake raised an eyebrow at the exchange.

"I think she means those with no home, and nowhere to go." he said.

"....right?" he then asked Peyton, clearly confused and unsure now.

Peyton just shrugged.

"Or perhaps he's like us, Jake." She then said. "Not... well, not completely human."

"And no, I'm not going to judge you for it. I'm a fox. I'd be quite hypocritical if I DID judge you for it." She then said. "I can smell it, by the way. If you're curious as to how I know." She paused a moment before sighing.

Lindsay seemed to be in shock for a moment, before shaking his head.

".....yeah." he said.

"You're right." he told her.

"You're not completely human too, eh?" Jake asked.

"Yeah." Lindsay confirmed.

"....I shouldn't be surprised, considering your time with Encrae." Jake growled.

Peyton paused a moment before looking between the two.

"Eh?" She asked after a few seconds.

"Who?" Then followed. She wasn't trying to be nosey, merely trying to find the informationm that would clear up the confusion. Of course, if they didn't wan tto go into it, she'd drop it.

"But Miss Vanessa put other DNA into me." he told Peyton.

Peyton was silent for a moment before sighing.

"Well... that is certainly lovely." She stated, something akin to sarcasm to her voice - or at least what counted as sarcasm from her.

"Anyhow! You won't find anyone like that here." She then said before pausing.

"Except Dr. Fyrane." She commented. "She might use you to see if things work. Usually itchy stuff, but nothing painful."

"Oh, right, she's had you to act as a guinea pig recently for something that would react with fur, didn't she?" Jake asked. Peyton nodded.

"Yeah. Itchy stuff, but afterwards really soft. so ... I can't really complain."

"F... F-Fyrane?" Lindsay finally got out.

"Did... did you say F-Fyrane?" he asked Peyton, looking genuinely scared.

"...Fyranes are bad." Lindsay replied.

"Who's that?" Jake inquired.

Peyton was silent for a moment.

"Yep. You two are related." She said simply.

"Kiah is Rowena's niece." She paused a moment, thinking.

"Uhhh... great niece. Sorry." She didn't seem to really have a reaction regarding Rowena though, but that was primarily because she'd met the woman at one of the explosive shows she'd done. She knew of the horrors in Rowena's past - who didn't? - but she also knew that the woman had moved beyond that terror.

Lindsay didn't respond, but his expression said that yes, she did.

"Rowena's a rather nice woman. She's actually been looking for you and your brother." She had no idea how he would take the suggestion, though.

"She's a nice person? When did THAT happen? Was that always the case?" he asked even further.

"....sorry." Lindsay apologized.

"I'm not sure when it happened." Peyton answered honestly.

"I just know that I met her a couple years ago, and she was a sweet woman. Rather... uneasy and on edge though." She then admitted.

'I think she was scared of me, of people overall." Whether it was a good thing or not to be quick this honest was something that Peyton had no concept of. She didn't know how it was that the kid, Lindsay, would take it.

"So... so I'm really not the one to ask. You'd probably want to ask her."
