@Valefor: NO TIP IS THE WORST! I would only not tip a chick if she fails to: refill my drink at least once, check on us and see how we are doing/ need anything, or messed up our orders and don’t offer to fix it.
Otherwise they get a 10-15% tip.
Really good service is 20%.
But some people man... -_-;;
Forums Mini Shops Closed. lock pls
@Night XIV: haha i just pack on shit until it looks good. xD But also gotta try and color coordinate of course. xD
Thank you!!
@Kawaii Neko Teaa: Right?! Like waitressing and customer service jobs like that depend on tips.
And yea, I'm the same way when it comes to tipping. Good service = good tip.
I have never been to a resturant where they do more than give you your seats and serve the food so no checking up on customers or anything. Also i hate handling money so i prefer places where they either have the tip calculated into the price or doesn't accept any so that ordering and eating food doesn't have to be more stressful than needed. Having jobs/wages that depend on tips is just shitty but any system old enough is hard to just change sadly enough.
?I hope this came out correctly, thoughts are messy sometimes.
@Valefor: exactly!
@Monorea: as a waitress having the tip included in the bill would be great, as a customer... no. What if you have a shitty waitress? Does she really deserve 15-20% based on that? I’ve never had to leave no tip but shitty serve gets 10% or less. As both a customer and worker in the food industry, the BEST solution to this is for people who don’t want to tip to get it TOGO, or waitresses get paid minimum wage like everything else and tips are just a luxury added on. Food service workers get the most shit and paid the shittiest.
That’s just my stance on it. Where as hairdressers get paid /hr + tips, and ice cream places, and all these normal /hr jobs that allow the cashier and workers to get tips.
I feel the most for places that enforce shared tips. (I’m looking @ you outback). Where they take ALL the tips from ALL the waiters/waitresses and split it evenly between them all AND the hostesses/seaters. How the hell is that fair? The hostesses get paid hourly and on top of that get the tips they didn’t have to earn? And how it that fair to waiters/waitresses who took bigger tables? All that hard work just so you could get a tiny % of what you should have earned from that labor. Not fair at all in my opinion. Anyone who works hard for their tables deserve 100% of what they make off of tips!

@Kawaii Neko Teaa: Like i said service in normal resturants isn't really a thing here and it is still customary to leave tips. Wait hairdressers gets tips where you live? And other places doesn't get tips at all over here i mean why has tipping spread to hairdressers over where you are, they they have fairly good wages? I mean getting a cut is like getting robbed. Honestly i don't understand your tipping culture and i wish it never spreads and good wages spread instead. Because good service is just a part of being employed in all jobs beside the resturant business.
@Monorea: because when you do a specialized service (not a job), you usually can allow tips to be granted. I’m terms of like ice cream places or such it’s to reward good workmanship or someone who went really above and beyond their job duties.
I mean for simple jobs like what I do I’m fine with the $7-10/hr. Unless you’re risking your life I don’t see why you should be paid any more than that. (Unless you’re an entrepreneur and make your own money, ie business owners and stock marketers)

@Kawaii Neko Teaa: Service is part of the job and prices reflect quality over here. And it seems people in the service industry get worse wages than over here even tho it is one of the lower payed sectors over here too.
Like Neko mentioned above, it's common within the food industry and other specialized jobs. For example, I used to work at a movie theater in the concession (food) deparment. Sometimes, I would get customers who want to tip but because our company policy did not allow it, I couldn't accept. It was the same when one of my managers hosted and helped with a kid's party.
It just depends on what kind of job it is and if tipping is allowed or even accepted. ^^;
I feel that tips shouldn’t be mandatory, but a steady minimum wage with tips accepted. If people wanna tip, let them! But to do a job, I better be paid hourly and not the at the wage of shitty (but sometimes good) customers.
Pretty much depending on the job. But yea, if people want to tip, then let them! If they want to reward someone they thought worked hard on had good service, let them. c:
"On our knees we Pray. As we waste Away"
@Valefor: Aaaaah it's been 6 whole days since I've been here D:
Everything's been so busy. Buying things for the business, getting the papers and registering my name T_T
I haven't been working lately either so it's getting harder to get things I need. I've been off the schedule for 3 whole weeks >>
Sigh* I might either have to quit or get a transfer ;_;
Anyway, how are things going for you, Vale?
I'm loving your avi. I'm guessing the hair and stuff is from the event that I didn't even know was going on
"And we dig our Graves. Dead on Arrival"
@Night XIV: nah you're fine. c:
Glad to hear you're getting your business papers and stuff already! That's exciting!!
And sucks to hear that you haven't been schedule for work. Have you asked them about it? 3 whole weeks is pretty serious! :O
I'm doing pretty good. c: Just the usual xD
Thanks! The hair is actually from The Bayou but the orbs are from the new event items which started yesterday! So you're right on time c:
"On our knees we Pray. As we waste Away"
@valefor: I haven't had the chance to ask about it because every time I go to the store, my manager isn't there.
It's only making me mad because she plans on firing someone, and yet that person is still on the schedule and getting hours, but I'm not.
What's the point of giving someone hours if you plan on firing them???
So at this point, if I go to the store and she is there, I'm asking for a transfer because
1: I've been off schedule for 3 weeks
2: You obviously don't need me at the store if I haven't been working there for 3 weeks
3: This has been happening since we got the new manager and her backward logic of keeping people on schedule even though she's going to fire them :/
Oh! At least the event just started so I'm not too late
And the Bayou? :o Is that a common store??
Edit: The Bayou is an item and I'm slow as heck. Ignore me xD
"And we dig our Graves. Dead on Arrival"
@Night xiv: Yea...you really need to push and ask because it's unfair to you. Is she the scheduling manager? Can you talk to another manager about it? Or your GM? But yea, good luck with it! I hope you're able to resolve your issue.
Yep! Just started around evening time yesterday so you have plenty of time to post for lanterns. c: You can read more about it here. o uob
And The Bayou is a rig item from this summer's plasma orbs!
"On our knees we Pray. As we waste Away"
@valefor: She's just my manager. She makes the schedule though and she always writes 'Subject to change' on it and I'm just like
"Yeah well, the subject to change should be getting rid of the dude that isn't supposed to be here, but whatever"
I want a transfer anyway because we got this new guy that's been working with us. He worked at a different store and he's been getting on my nerves >>
Every time I ask him a question, he's response is always 'You work at Gamestop, you should know this' and I look at him like :T
Because not only does that NOT answer my question but now you're just being rude.
I came to the store yesterday to get a new PS4 because my disc reader has been making noise since I got it. Because of that, I didn't know if that was normal or not. Turns out, it isn't.
When I tried to bring in the system, he asked 'Bring the system out' and so I did. Then he asked 'Did you bring everything else like the power cord and stuff?'
Me: Yes, I did
Him: Then take it out??
Me: You asked for the system...
Him: You work at Gamestop, you know how system trades go
Me:...But you weren't clear and just asked for the system???????!
So after all that, he couldn't even do the system trade because I bought the system while it was on sale and He said needed the managers help because he didn't know how to trade a system in that was on sale. And I wanted to say 'You work at gamestop, you don't know how to trade in a system that was on sale?' but I just took my system back and walked away.
"And we dig our Graves. Dead on Arrival"
@Night XIV: Wow, they are just not very professional or competent at their jobs. :/ I'm sorry you have to go through all of that.
"On our knees we Pray. As we waste Away"
@valefor: Not your fault, no need for you to apologize or anything.
It's been like this since I moved to the location a bit closer to home. When I was at my seasonal location (Which is too far) everyone was working and wanted to help me out because I was still new and still learning (I'm still learning now and it's almost been a year)
People at this location just don't want to work it seems like. Luckily my best friend is the manager at another location, so if I manage to get my transfer I'm going to see if I can work at his store or work at the store literally down the street from me (it's in walking distance)
"And we dig our Graves. Dead on Arrival"
@Night XIV: Yea it's unfortunate that you have people like that.
I hope you can get that transfer and find a better work environment and better people to work with. And especially since it's closer to your home too!
"On our knees we Pray. As we waste Away"
@Valefor: Same, if not then I'm just going to quit.
My friend still works at Build-A-Bear and she said she would try to help me get a job there if things here don't work out.
I really want them to though. It's just the new manager is starting to irritate the heck out of me :T
"And we dig our Graves. Dead on Arrival"
@Night XIV: That's understandable. I had the same situation with management with previous jobs.
But yea, if that's the case and you can't, hopefully your friend can refer you to the build-a-bear ! c:
