It’s the same in the wintertime. Like I slept and lived under my kotatsu in the wintertime, but if you tell a Japanese person that, they’ll tell you not to do it because you’ll get sick.

The summer is the worst season for them usually because that's when all the bad storms hit. Usually the hail is more troublesome though, just from a nuisance standpoint.
And no worse than anywhere else. I'm just saying there might be one or two tornado deaths a year.
Like, don't take them lightly no. Definitely take precautions just in case, but the likelihood of you actually being affected by tornadoes here is pretty small.

Has the weather gotten worse in your area this summer? In Virginia it has... we had waaaaay too many thunderstorms, cloud to ground lightning, hail, and tornadoes kinda forming... there was a funnel that was about to form over Washington D.C., and that has NEVER happened. And we had a flash flood. We’ve had flash flood warnings before, but nothing ever came from them, but omggggg. This was scary.
