I was sifting through some old pictures and found some pictures I took of Radio, my southern flying squirrel. I figured y’all would like to see him! My neighbors were cutting down a large, dead tree and a nest of squirrel babies fell out. They gave the only surviving baby to me and, after calling the local wildlife people only to be told they don’t have anyone to take him, I raised him myself. But it turns out you can’t release just one flying squirrel into the wild, you have release a bunch of them at the same time because apparently during the winter months the squirrel family forms a large squirrel ball for warmth and any squirrel that doesn’t have a squirrel family just kinda dies.
So now he’s mine and here are some pictures of him. He’s 5 years old now and his favorite food is apples and his favorite pastime is sleeping in my shirt.
