Forums General Chit-Chat License to drive baybee

Do you drive?? At what age did you get your license and if you got it a little late, what's held you back?

I'm 26 and i still don't have my license.

I tried a few times in highschool when they offered driving classes but each time something got in the way. Either classes filled up too fast or i was late on my application or i didn't have the money. Since then i just never got around to it on my own.

I keep meaning to do it.

I do not have a drivers license. I had some lessons but I was not a really good driver. I also did not really like it.

@vengeance:
Yeah i can see that.
I have a friend who drives but is also anxious on the road. I think mostly just in the city anyway.

I dont think it was entirely her choice to get her license tho.

Taking a course is the easiest way honestly. It kind of takes some of the stress out. It's definitely one of those things you have to practice. Even after you get a license it may take some time to actually be comfortable on the road. I know I was terrified of highways at first but now I'm just... tired of them lol.

Most places in the US it's ... extremely inconvenient if you cannot drive. Public transportation is not always safe or accessible.

I'm almost 25 with no license.
What's holding me back is anxiety and how dangerous it is to drive nowadays.
I live in a pretty crowded town. It's getting to be a bit overpopulated so traffic is pretty bad.
But i'm quite afraid to drive from how many impatient drivers there are nowadays.

I'd honestly love to have better and more accessible public transportation.
That is a big issue for me for getting a job is not being able to drive.
No one can drive me either because everyone is busy and i feel like such an inconvenience for someone
to drive me. :vanora_cry:

@Priestess of Pie:
This is true and fair.
I admit the other thing partially holding me back is that I've never felt confident or safe behind the wheel.
But I keep being told by family how much better it would be to have a license and a vehicle. I've come across too many scenarios that really made me wish I could drive so as not to opt out of the idea though.

@Totalanimefan:
Yeah, it does feel like an expectation sometimes.
I've told some friends and coworkers that I couldn't drive and they just seemed legitimately confused. Lmao.

@MoodyBats:
Yeah, I feel you on the getting rides part.
I got this part time job that requires me to be just outside of the city. I almost didn't get it because I'd need to organize rides and I only have two friends in the city. One works full time the other doesn't have a vehicle or a license either. I felt bad for asking my mom because I know she also works but bless her soul, she took the job with me lmao. On the plus side- other than landing this super neat job is that i get to see my mom more often. xD

Are ya ready, guyz?!

I have a permit
But where I live to get anywhere one needs to drive, which means a license
Had it since I was 16.5
Still don't want it but it's necessary ._.
There's also a weirdly high amount of people in the area who got their license despite nearly running people over during their test

Put ya guns awn!

@Vermii: The nervousness will fade with time and experience, much like all things. It will open up a level of freedom for you though so I recommend it.

@Vermii: yeah. during the time I had to go to GED classes
it was a hard and it didn't help that i had guilt issues.

I probably can't work due to i have been having pretty bad anxiety and most
jobs require to work in a fast pace job and my brain can't do that. So I am kinda just out of luck
at the moment. :vanora_sweat:

The Queen Declares...

I got mine when I was 19. I put it off because of anxiety but my parents bought this cute little used car for me and they were like "you should learn on this." And I was like, it would be rude at this point not to, they literally bought me a car.

It is October, time to get spooky.

I have my license - can't imagine not having it or not being able to drive. I've had it since I was about 17. What held me back was my mom, procrastinating (or being afraid?). Now, I'm on the other end of the spectrum, since I have teenagers...

@Vermii: i has one. sadly i have a physical anxiety where if i become startled by something instant, my hands claw up and restless legs. it got worse after my accident. wasnt a too scary of one but i wish i would drive more!

my husband loves driving and has done drag racing up in some of the mountains here. i still do get anxious. >n < if it wasnt for the aggressive drivers i would be golden.
