@Miss Sandman: Thanksgiving -at least the American version- is the last Thursday of November. So it's next week.

@Miss Sandman: Yep... that's it... celebration of the harvest, etc. And actually, I think it's officially the 4th Thursday of November in the US (which is also usually the last Thursday; but not necessarily the case)
