this is what I sent trying to explain how it's an active thread:
This is a quest thread which is currently linked in the signature of the creator who actively posts around, the content of which can easily be updated to reflect current quests if they're out if date, and the core content of which would not be different if recreated (what's the point of a copy of the same thread by the same person). It's not attempting to bring back an irrelevant discussion, which is the point of necroposting rules, is it not? I feel it would qualify as an exception, especially since I also saw that the quests rules say the threads are active until the owner asks for it to be locked and people should try to reuse the same thread where possible and this one was clearly set up with longevity in mind. Since it was not locked and was linked in her signature and I asked her if I could chat in it with her (all signs pointing to it being active), I did not even consider it to be necroposting.

In philosophy (and law) there is something called spirit of the law... that is different from the letter of the law
I feel like the letter of the law was enforced, not the spirit of the law

well I'm trying to plead a case here!
I was reading the rules for galleries as well (since it's listed as an exception to necroposts) and it has that same note about being active until asked to be locked/reusing threads where possible
