@inatlaka: Awww, thank you. But that's really one of the greatest benefits of homeschooling - it's a very small "teacher to student" ratio, you know your kid(s) and how they learn best, you're free to investigate other modes of learning/teaching that make better sense to your child, and you're not alone in the process - there is an entire community available for help, feedback, exposure to things you may not really be able to do all by yourself or feel comfortable relearning to teach your kid(s)... there are so many benefits!! And yes, absolutely, now that my kids are at the end of their homeschooling journey, I can tell you that it worked - for my kids, but also for their peers. But, laws do vary state-by-state, and the homeschool community may vary in terms of strength or sheer numbers depending on your specific location. However, there are a Ton of online resources - curriculum and support groups, and plenty of online learning resources too (especially now)!

I can't imagine doing laundry by hand at this point, especially with some of the things my younger son gets in to when he works with the horses (of course I'd have him do his own laundry and hope for the best!). I hope you can find a washer... that's just a needlessly tedious task in this day and age!
