So, I got my self a few new house plants today, I got an African Violet, a calathea vittata plant, and some random little tiny succulent I found at the store when I got some potting soil for my plants earlier.
Anyone else have house plants? Any recommendations for some cat safe house plants?

i moved last year and have been slowly filling my apt up with them ^^
when ppl see them they're like 'oh u have a lot of plants' but i definitely want more!!!
i don't have pets so actually i think many of them may not be cat safe after some googling
i have a triostar stromanthe - soo beautiful and fun, they should be nontoxic to pets :-)

@Totalanimefan: I'll have to try and get some decent pictures of them later. The African violet is super tiny. I ordered it online, I knew it was supposed to be a smaller one but I wasn't expecting it to be so tiny. Just leaves, I suppose it won't get flowers until it grows some more.

@kay: i currently dont have any house plants they wouldn't last long with my dog.. wee bugger would eat them xD i do love plants tho
@LilMissKushy: I haven't had any house plants in awhile, but one of my cats likes to chew on things, I have plants for the garden outside that still need planted and I had to shut them in another room because the cats wouldn't leave them be.

@kay: what a naughty kitty xD have to be careful tho some plants can make cats and dogs sick.. i used to have orange lily's but i heard that the stamin's on them are poisonous.. wasnt sure but wasnt going to take any chances either

@xvz: hey there :) i have a staffordshire bull terrier called alfie and 2 giant snails called gary and turbo xD
@LilMissKushy: Yeah, you have to be careful with plants around pets, some can be toxic to them. Like anything in the lily plant family can be deadly to cats, even a tiny bit of pollen from a lily plant could kill them.

i propagate a lot of cuttings in water but i don't know what nutrients to add to keep them growing in water

They're not normally pets that i go for but they're adorable.. they eat cucumbers and lettuce, cabbage,apples anything healthy really and they get egg shells and cuttle fish so they can build their shells :)

@kay: yeah so that's why i dont have any plants .. i need to google some non toxic plants and see what i can find.. i would probably still be a bit cautious tho and keep it up high out of the way

there are a couple of experiments that show if you say nice things to them it helps them grow!
like cheering them on, complimenting them, showing them love, etc.

but it's also been replicated w/ sealed jars of rice!! (cn: pictures of moldy rice)
if u google 'rice experiment' it's been replicated plenty of times
i think there's something to energy / life energy that we haven't figured out how to measure yet

@xvz: yeah people think they're gross because they're slimey but they're quite fascinating u can really see how different their personalties are .. ones shy and peeks his little eyes out from under his shell before he comes out to say hello and the other one is so nosey as soon as u lift him hes straight out looking at u.. they're like cute little aliens xD they're about the length of the palm of my hand but they will keep growing
