Forums General Chit-Chat So, I don't like caterpillars. Sue me.

I went to go crawl into bed and saw a caterpillar and screeched. I proceeded to do the most adult thing I could think of (sarcasm). I texted my fiancée.

Me: Janna come home! I need you!
Janna: What's wrong?
Me: There's a caterpillar on the bed...
Janna: Seriously Shamus?
Me: Yes! Help me!
Janna: Damn it, don't do that to me! I got scared thinking something serious was wrong with you or the kids!
Me: This is serious!
Janna: Baby.

So, I don't like caterpillars. Sue me, Janna!

Lol

@Totalanimefan: Lol! She's not happy with me.

I Googled it. Apparently it's toxic? It's an American Dagger Moth caterpillar.

@Totalanimefan: No, like, this bug organizations website says it (among several other sites). I'm not dumb enough to believe everything google says. Lmao.

It's okay I picked it up with a paper towel and tossed it (paper towel and all) out the window.

From one of the sites:

"When a person comes into contact with the hairs (setae) of a caterpillar like the American Dagger Moth (Acronicta americana), the hairs break off of the caterpillar and imbed into the skin of the person. These hairs are connected to glands just below the surface of the caterpillar's skin which produce toxins known to cause a variety of irritations to potential predators."

Toxic doesn't always mean deadly. So, while you say" Google always says something will kill you" I actually wasn't saying it was gonna kill me.

@Totalanimefan: You're doing a good job. One of my pet peeves is when people treat me like I'm stupid. Lol

@Totalanimefan: Its okay. Lol. It just kind of stems from how I've been treated by my father and ex. Lmao.

Nooo! @Burntcicle: don't! Lol! Doesn't it effect you?

You guys, I took it in a paper towel and threw it out the window. Do you think it's gonna come back for revenge? xD

Nahh not really. I don't think much of it.

But it totally might! I'd just be careful. It may bring others with it.

@Burntcicle: Hmm. I'm betting that certain personal attributes determine whether these toxins effect a person less or more.

Ahh! No! -locks windows and doors- xD
@Boris: Yes they can but these don't seem to be deadly. I've not found anything on them killing someone yet.

@Boris: He's been tossed out the window. Here's a picture I found online though lol.

I like the little woolly bear caterpillars. They're like fat pipe cleaners.

@Shamrock Shamus: there are several toxic caterpillars
But you reminded me of my 6 feet 10 tall, scared for nothing brother, who called me because there was a mouse in his house.

@Shamrock Shamus: Unfortunately without caterpillars there would be no butterflies because caterpillars turn into butterflies.

@Totalanimefan: Its okay. Sometimes I take things a bit to personal. Lol
@Apollo Im Burning: Haha apparently not. I didn't want to clean up its guts.
@Tuijp: wow! That's tall! I'm short.
Lol, mice are okay. I think rodents are cute, wild or domesticated. Bugs...nope!
@Emmett Khan: They turn into moths to. And it's okay, I dislike both.

I really don't like moths, even though there aren't any that are dangerous in my area.
They just fly weird and it creeps me out.
