@MoodyB: Yes, I completely understand and I agree! Plus, it's often just nice to get a different perspective from an unusual angle or lighting on a subject that you're otherwise fairly familiar with! :3 What is this subject matter?

@Wildfire: Definitely. and it expands your library on how light works on different subjects.
It is a person. I want to get more into painting people since people are the main subject
when it comes to my artwork.
I collect tons of reference on people but i really wanted to paint this one
She is actually from a group called Twice and i just loved this picture so much
and how the lighting looks in it.

@MoodyB: OH! I can see why - that's unusual, yet still very directional, lighting!! That's fun! It throws shadows and highlights in places you don't usually find them :3 ... the more I look at it, the more I want to draw it too!

more of an understanding of lighting, how it works with skin and so on.
I really like the color palette as well.

@MoodyB: Yes, I like that as well - it's fairly limited, which really just means you can better see all the more subtle tones... that would definitely be a fun image to paint (or draw)!!

with no reference but i need to expand my visual library with lighting
so i won't struggle so hard and can post more often. :vanora_sweat:
I have a few others i will try to paint too
and overall many fun lighting studies to do.

Since the event threads will be closed soon, guess I’ll just find Wild here instead :3

I am not an actual NPC.
@MoodyB: That's awesome! I should do more of that kind of thing too. I keep getting too distracted with online "art" though. Bah.
@Vixen: LOL! Yes, this is a good place to find me, usually XD <3 How are you today?

@Wildfire: not bad; waiting on the world’s slowest thing to run for work; eating while I wait.I was working on a piece late last night too, and I’m trying the figure out how I want to do a timelapse/progress reel. How about you?

@Vixen: I am enjoying the cooler weather we're having here today, running around voltra and tying up some loose ends before I need to go put something together for food for the family (it's 3:30pm - I need to start thinking about it) and enjoying the opportunity to "breathe" for once in I'm not sure how many days!
@MoodyB: It sounds like you have a great plan in mind!! Good for you!!! <3

Definitely painting, hands, and clothing/fabric.
I struggle with those the most.

cause i put off studying. :vanora_sweat:
But it'll get better im sure with practicing important fundamentals.

@MoodyB: Perspective is actually really straight-forward. There are only a couple of types (one point and two point) and once you understand the basics you can apply it to just about anything. Foreshortening, however, is a bit tougher because your brain and your hand often want to fight it out ... with the end result not being quite right.

putting it in practice tho...way different lmao.
