It's another romance novel. It's not a strict sequel to my first, but I can't reveal too much more without getting into spoiler territory, and that's no fun is it?

Ah. I heard rumor it was a romance novel. Bleh. Any plans for something non-romance someday?
Well, it is my trademark, so I'll always call myself a romance author, but I'll let you in on a secret... Val has been talking to me about steampunk lately, and it sounds like my kinda sandbox. I think I could work with it, so who knows? But I'm a busy man, I'd hate to spread myself too thin.
Oh man, a steampunk novel would be pretty awesome. I mean, not that I have anything against romance writers, but it's just not my cup of tea.
Now epic adventures on the other hand...

Epic adventures with a romance subplot? A daring heroine, her beautiful sidekick, rich environments, what's not to love?
Hmmm...depends on how the romantic subplot plays out, but that could be acceptable. I like characters that are independent and strong and can stand alone. They don't have to stand alone, but at the same time, they aren't so desperately needy that they have to be in a relationship either. They choose love, but they don't let it distract them from their main task/quest/goal.
Oh I absolutely agree with you - only amateur writers use romance in such a clichéd way. Employed correctly, it enhances your novel and your characters, as love enhances your life. Only healthy relationships in my novels!
Well then, I may just have to read your novels afterall. Here I was anticipating the stereotypical romance novel of predictable, cheesy, cliches.

Stereotypical? From a man with this fabulous hairstyle?
No my friend, if there are clichés then they're flipped upside their heads and deconstructed. I'd certainly recommend it, though I guess it's in my best interests to say that...

Ha! You would be surprised the sheer quantity of people who can have very original style, but such average ideas..at least where I'm from anyway.
But you do make a fair point.

That's my reaction with shoujo mangas, Kaderin. XD Perhaps I've read too many and am now jaded/can't enjoy them as much. I branched out to other genres because of that.
I look forward to reading your new steampunk-romance novel, Vontell. It sounds like a wild ride full of surprises! 8D

Haha, I think what really killed romance novels for me was probably the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. Because they started of really good, with Anita being a bad-ass necromancer and vampire executioner. And then became all about the smut. And I really tried to stick with the series in the hopes that she could eventually regain her bad-assery, but it just never happened.
Ahaha, I like the way you think!
