@Jolly: ADHD is pretty hardwired into a brain, huh? I see mine as a good thing mostly, honestly.

@0v7:
Yeah, the studies I read suggested that it MIGHT be a nervous system disorder by genetic cause (which would also suggest lifestyle/upbringing could have caused it in some manner of way), but that's not proven to be factual or not. There aren't many studies going on for it these days xD
Autism has the same theory too.
I thikn I read something about it being connected to a low level of dopamine in the brain too, or something? idk, its all interesting to me

@Jolly: What I find surprising is the co-morbidity of ADHD and autism :0 Most people with ADHD I know also have autism.

@0v7:
Yeah, I assume the chemical balance in the brain is very similar between the two, but different enough that they are still very different disorders O:
a lot of the symptoms can be very similar, I think I read somewhere that it can sometimes be hard to tell the difference between the two lol Especially in more mild cases. (I could be wrong, I dont remember where that source was)

You're all good! :D
Honestly, if adhd/autism ARE genetic disorders, it makes a lot of sense why there are so many cases these days. The current lifestyle (especially in the US) is a little intense for many people, to say the least.
That, and before the 80's they didn't acknowledge that adults could have adhd, hence people thinking it was a lie for forever xD

@Jolly: I would think so too! It's hard to tell the symptoms if you aren't aware of the key differences between the two :0
I know my brain pretty well so I can pick it apart and tell what is what usually.

I think Hubby actually has Aspergers. It runs in his family and I found that a lot of people with Aspergers are misdiagnosed with adhd.
He doesn't really understand emotions and doesn't really feel anything but anger or fleeting emotions.
Idk I'm no doctor xD

He says he thinks I'm on the spectrum, I just think a lot of trauma happened so I have similar quirks others do.

Yeah my mother says that a doctor suggested I have both adhd and mild aspergers, but they didn't put it on paper cause I was functional enough that they didn't want the idea of it to haunt me or affect my life. Something like that idk. I was too young to understand xD
They also suggested nonverbal reading disorder but idk, cause that literally just sounds like adhd. I haven't figured out the difference.

Sometimes I have trouble reading context from people, but I understand emotions and have a ton of empathy. So in that way, idk if aspergers would be written off or if it doesn't always suggest a lack of emotional understanding. I haven't researched it as much lol

@Jolly: Just because it doesn't affect you much doesn't mean you don't have it. Most people would never guess I have ADHD + am autistic :0 could be worth looking into if it bothers you though

Well he also cycles obsessions and his uncle is the same way and has been diagnosed.
His mom said he can't have it becaus he can cook and take care of himself *his uncle can't*
I told her that doesn't discount that he may have it too. Aspergers is like Bipolar Disorder, not every person will experience the same.
His mom didn't care, she's a jerk lool.

I'd say its more of a curiosity, less of a concern. I'd love to get tested so I can nerd out about how my brain works and study it like a crazy person xD
but its expensive, and doesn't affect how I live my life since I already feel like I have a decent grip on myself. So I'll just wonder <3

But yes, not everyone responds to these things the same, and severities may differ too. Also notable that there may be undiagnosed conditions that make symptoms worse/less functional. I have a friend who's ADHD is pretty debilitating, and I highly suspect there may be more to his brain than that, especially since his (far too strong dose of) meds aren't helping with some of the symptoms.
