He accepted the orb, and nodded.

"Yes, Madam. Right away." he told her, before quickly heading off to where the one she was talking about was.

He entered the room, and acted differently than she would have expected. He marched right up towards her, and threw the orb with all his strength, the object slamming into her chest and starting to absorb into her.

"No time for back-and-forth." he said.

"Your mistress commands you to go and 'greet' our new 'visitors'." he told her.

The one he'd 'attacked' didn't have time to process everything before he could see the mana take hold. It was about as expected, though, whcih wasn't too bad.

"Go eat a lemon." She stated, her voice venomous, but with far less punch than it usually had.

"Let me see my brother." She snarled.

"Oh, shut up." Azari growled in response.

He then grabbed her by the collar, and threw her over towards the door, but it didn't even cause her to fall, more just stumble considerably.

"Get the newcomers, and THEN we'll discuss your brother." he told her.

"You'll walk by his cell anyway, just peek in and say whatever feeble words you want." he continued.

"Just GO." he ordered.

"By command of the Mistress Vanessa Encrae, GO!"

She didn't say anything, couldn't. She wasn't completely succumbing, but she was at least enough that she had to do what she was told. Even if she fought it every step of the way.

Sure enough, she walked down the halls, her body leading her on the path without any conscious thought. Sure enough, as she reached her brothers location, she stopped, just looking at him.

"... Evan..." She said quietly, wondering if he'd even hear her, and if he did, 'who' he'd be. Would he be himself? Whatever the puppet version was?

Evan was silent for a moment, before looking towards her... and smiling.

"Hey." he greeted her.

"Nice to see you." he said.

"And I mean that. Seeing you gives me hope. It keeps me from going too far down." he went on, before pausing.

"...that was really heavy right out the bat. Sorry." he then apologised.

"But hi, Sammy." he responded.

"You're looking rougher than you were last time I saw you...."

"I feel rougher than usual." Evan admitted.

"But... not in the way you'd think." he then said.

"I... well, it's like... HER mana is... still there, but it's always there. There's... something else..." he went on.

"It's like my necromancy is reacting to something, and it feels more... 'dense'...? I guess?" he continued.

"I don't know how to explain it." he sighed.

"I just feel a little overwhelmed right now, and it's making me tired." he said to her. "And it happened pretty suddenly."

"... Might have something to do with the 'visitors' I've been sent to collect." Sammy commented after a moment or two.

"I dunno." She added. "Just.. maby? Maybe there's another necromancer that has arrived? I know you said you could feel them upon arrival in the past." She added, hoping to offer some sort of something for this.

"I'll be back though, I don't think I can linger long - and not by choice." She aded. "I love you, Evan, and we will get out of here."

sammy was silent for a moment, sighing heavily.

"I'll be back.": She said simply, although he could hear how she didn't want to leave, before she hesitantly did leave. She had to, and she knew it.

Madison sighed as she waved a hand in front of the crony that she been dealing with, while Jack had fun with the others.

"Huh." She muttered.

"Turns out I did the same thing as the Fyranes can. That soul of his has been completely torn out." She added.

Jack had just snapped one of the last remaining cronies' neck, before looking at her.

"Not surprised." he said.

"Anubis' mana is tangentially related to souls, so it probably mixed with your necromancy and caused that to be a thing." he went on.

"Hence why you're one of the only ones that can outdo me. In life, anyway." he then said further. "In the afterlife, I am your superior in every way." he added, grabbing another and smashing their head into a wall. Repeatedly.

"Man! This feels good!" he declared with a laugh.

"But I think we're well on our way to seeing Vanessa. She's the one that owes us an explanation, after all." he finished.

Madison just rolled her eyes.

"Yeah yeah." She commented before falling silent, just as they heard footsteps approaching.

"... someone else is coming." She said after a moment or two.

Jack paused for a moment as they heard the footsteps.

"...it's not a crony." he said. "Or not one of these disposable ones, anyway." he clarified.

"The steps are heavy. Sluggish. Almost like they're being fought against. But they're deliberate. They're coming right towards us." he said further, narrowing his eyes a little.

"Be ready for anything." he warned, before the one in question came into view from around a corner.

And Jack seemed to freeze for a second.

"...okay, wasn't ready for THIS." he admitted with a sigh.

Madison was silent as she saw who it was, not sure what it was that she was supposed to make of that. Her grand-daughter had more than a little bit of elven mana woven within her, and itwasn't hard for either of them to tell.

"Oh Sammy..." She said quietly, but Jack could hear the pain, the rage, that was bubbling beneath the surface.

"The bitch wants you." sammy managed to get out, causing Madison to pause.

"..... You can actually fight her off?" Madison asked. Sammy nodded.

"barely. But yeah." Sammy answered. Madison just looked to Jack.

"Care to make the fact that you're a dark elf useful here?"

Jack just groaned.

"All right, all right." he said, cracking his knuckles.

He then stepped up to Sammy and paused as he looked her over.

"...I'll try and be as gentle as I can." he said to her, which was a weird thing for him to say.

"You're still gonna feel like you're being put through the ringer, though." he added, before he started to pulse his own mana into her, overlaying and overwhelming the mana Vanessa had inside.

Sammy didn't move, and the question of why was hard to determine. It could have been because of the mana, but it also could have been because she knew this was needed.

After he managed to clear out Vanessa's mana, he could see that she couldn't fight it off. She was completely his, and it was extremely clear.

She didn't say anything, didn't do anything. Merely stood there, waiting.

Madison, meanwhile, was watching, waiting to see what would be done next.

"Ugh." he muttered, before he seized control of his mana once more, and pulled it out of her, once it had quashed Vanessa's influence.

"That did not feel right." he said.

"I know it had to be done, but... yuck." he mumbled.

"Left a bad taste in my cracked soul." he growled.

"You doin' okay, though?" he then asked Sammy.

With the withdrawal of mana, sammy very nearly ended up on her knees.

"... Thank you." She said quietly before shakign her head and looking over to Madison.

".... You're who Evan feels." SXhe then stated after a moment or two.

"Anyway... The bitch is waiting for you two." She said. "Shall we?"

"Indeed." Jack responded, the previous glee in his tone now gone.

"Let's move." he told her.

"You know this place better than us, so we're following you." he said.

"Take whatever path you feel is best." he finished.

He then looked at Madison with a slightly concerned expression, and Madison could tell it was that of worry.

Almost as though he were saying 'I have a bad feeling about this'...

"I ... didn't expect you two to be the visitors, I admit." She commented.

"Hey.... I'm sorry to ask... but... are you willing to help my brother?" She asked Jack after a moment or two.
