She was in luck, and his GPS had been on.

She checked the history, and the most recent one showed that he was still on campus somewhere.

Checking further, she noticed that his last known location wasn't far from where she was, actually.

Going even deeper, she saw it was a building with labs in it... and it was only about 5 minutes away.

It wasn't much, but it was definite information. More than she'd had before.

Why can't I just be

Jordan was silent before heading in the direction that his signal was. She didn't know what was going on, but she hoped she wouldn't find him dead in a closer, or an elevator shaft, or something else of that variety.

"I gotta lay off the horror." She muttered as she realised how unlikely that was, yet how it was still a legit concern for her.

as she turned a corner, she noticed something. The direction she was heading had heartbeats, lots of them. There were several people nearby, and she couldn't quite pinpoint why. As she neared, she saw that she was at an elevator, with five people - four looking to be school officials and one looking like a repair tech - talking about something going on

One of them noticed that Jordan was there, and stopped her as he approached.

"Miss, please step back." he told her.

"This elevator suddenly malfunctioned and is stuck between floors." he said.

"We have a tech working on it right now, and while it shouldn't be a danger, we want people to stay away, just in case." he went on.

"Can I help you, though?" he then asked her.

Jordan was silent for a moment before looking to the one that addressed her.

"... Do you know who is stuck in the lift?" She asked.

"Because... I'm wondering if my brother is there." She continued. "GPS leads here, anyway."

"What's his name?" They asked.

"Darryl McCormi------- Sherwood. Darryl Sherwood." Jordan answered

The man raised his eyebrow for a moment, before turning and checking with the others. They discussed for a moment, and he returned to her.

"Yes, there IS a Darryl Sherwood in there." he confirmed.

"Been in there for a couple hours or so." he told her.

"However, we're almost done. Should be up and running again in 10 minutes or so." he continued.

"If you want to wait, feel free to take a seat on the bench over there." he finished, gesturing to said bench just down the hall.

Jordan nodded.

"Thank you." was all she said, a soft smile to her voice, before heading over to the bench to take a seat. Once down, she pulled her phone out of her pocket.

He's trapped in an elevator. Been there for a ocuple hours, apparently. She sent to Bast, knowing he'd get it at some point, and also that he'd want to know.

About 10 minutes later, she received a response, just as the elevator was moving again.

Poor bastard. it read.

At that point, the elevator moved to the floor they were on, the doors opened, and people panickily poured out of the device... but Darryl was the last out, noticeably calmer, but still looking worried.

He looked around and saw his sister there, before sighing heavily.

And she knew what it was about. She could see it was that he was sorry for causing her worry.

Jordan didn't get to her feet and hurry over as was likely expected. Instead she just waited for him to deal with whatever he needed to, and approach her.

"Hey." She said with a wave as he got within earshot.

"... You ok?" She asked, concern in her voice. "I know that can't have been fun."

"I'm fine." he responded.

"Was boring as hell in there." he said.

"Sorry." he then apologised.

"I wanted to contact you, but... well... no reception." he grumbled. "And I couldn't just use my mana to get out of there. Other people, and being recorded." he lamented further.

"I hope I didn't worry you TOO much."

Jordan just shook her head.

"Don't sweat it." She commented.

"I'm just glad to know you're all right." She added. "Plus, I was the moron that took til ... well, twenty mnutes ago to check your GPS location." She added with a laugh.

"Who'se the artist, if you happen to know?" She asked. "Because that pentagram looks pretty damned nice."

"Wait, what?" he asked.

"What are you....?" he started to ask further, before it hit him what she was talking about.

And she saw the colour drain from his face, and his eyes fill with anger.

"...how." he said, his tone dark.

"How... do you know... about THAT?" he asked her.

"Lose the anger, Darryl." She stated.

"I found him at work. Needed to get ahold of him somehow, saw he was working, stopped by, and ... well...y eah." She added.

"Wanted to know if he'd heard anything from you, as you were late."

Darryl paused again.

"Wait, how do you know where-" he started to ask, before just stopping and shaking his head.

"Whatever." he said.

"I'm fine, and I'm sorry I made you worry." he apologised.

"As for the artist, to address your initial question..." he then said, still sounding a little unimpressed. "I think it's a studio about 30 minutes from here. 'Ink Dimensions' or something. Not sure on the specific artist." he admitted.

"You'd have to ask HIM about that."

"I'll have to keep that in mind then." Jordan commented.

"I do know that I want some ink in the future, and I'm scoping out artists.": She added.

"So I'll definitely ask him about it. And I know where he works because he told me, and I saw his schedule when I went to his room to ask about him having seen or heard from you."

Darryl wasn't stupid. But he WAS naïve. And she knew that.

So when he accepted her explanation at face value, she wasn't surprised. Relieved, yes, but still, not surprised.

"Fair." he said.

"At least you had somewhere to go where you knew someone to ask." he reasoned.

"But yes, that was... an unfortunate turn of events that ended with my being trapped in that elevator." he then lamented.

"...and you saw him perform, huh?" he asked her quietly as they walked.

Jordan let out an internal breath of relief when her brother accepted her explanation without question. When he asked his follow up though, she just chuckled.

"Yeah." She answered with a nod.

"Did NOT expect him to be THAT flexible, either." She admitted.

"Granted, not complaining. Twas quite a show." She paused after saying that, smirking.

"Of course, you're telling Mom and Dad. I doubt Dad would let you live it down, letting his little girl go and defile herself and her good nature like that."

Darryl just groaned and pinched the the bridge of his nose.

"You can cut it with that attitude." he said.

"We both know that the less they know of this, the better." he told her.

"Although this is NOT my fault." he then declared.

"True, but you know Dad can spin it to you allowing me to stay with someone like Sebastien for the week being corrupt." Jordan countered.

"Damn it, yeah." Darryl admitted.

"Guess this is a secret we keep."

"Precisely." She commented.

"It's for the best anyway. They don't need to know that I'm 16 and already been to a strip joint. Doubt they'd like that much." She added with a smirk.

"And besides, Sebastien is too cute for them to get in the way, anyhow."

Darryl paused again for a moment when she said that, and sighed.

"Down, girl." he said.

"Don't need you getting those kinds of ideas about my roommate." he told her.

"Sounds like you already have designs on him." he went on.

"You don't even know if he's your type or not." he continued. "How well do you know him? Do you even know him beyond who he is in relation to me?" he asked her, clearly unaware of just how much they'd talked on that first night, and when they both went to the club for food.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Do you not like your sister stepping onto the turf you've claimed while away from home?" Jordan asked with a laugh.

"Give me a break." She then said. "Maaaaaybe while you've been busy at school this week, I've chat a decent bit with him. Who knows?"

"Now, since I'm willing to bet you haven't eaten.... wanna grab food on the way back? My treat. I got some spending money for my trip, after all."
