Oh btw they don't ask for permission when doing construction in the US?
@Raxton: Not if it's public domain stuff like sidewalks and streetlights, etc. Or if it's a new building going up across the street, for example. They don't poll all the neighbors or anything, no...
Yes, if you're not expecting it, but the construction crews usually make it pretty obvious that they're about to do something, and they do have to apply for and get various permits (& do inspections) for their work. And there are rules about zoning that they have to follow too...

Ahh yeah.. its actually not required here, but they usually ask for permission before they start the construction here
Because legally, the neighbours can stop the construction if it disturb them here hahhaha xD
So usually the construction company will work out a deal with the surrounding tenants before they start building, like the time they start & stop working in a day, reimbursement if something broke, etc
