Forums General Chit-Chat I got a high score at the Drs
PHQ-9 at a 21
GAD-7 at a good ol 15
:vanora_xd:
aka possible "severe" anxiety issues, nonspecific and not a formal diagnosis
Dr is like uhhh you want meds?
and I'm like no dude I want mental health care to not cost more than my car payments so I can get behavioral therapy
:vanora_upsidedown:
That subject always makes me spicy. Its hilarious how every time I see a doctor and they do these little survey things to check my general state of mind, they always get all nervous and worried like "you need help!" and I'm like YEAH WE ALL DO but cant have that can we
I dont qualify for financial help on this
I just come here to whine and joke.
disclaimer: I'm doing fine XD
I have my first therapy session with a licensed therapist today....i';m kind of nervous..
@Bonnie:
I hope it goes well <3
@Totalanimefan:
Yeah theres a lot going on rn so a lot of it is just environmental stress. My implant also still messing my hormones up too.
It just dawned on me that I waited about a month for this consult/care establishment "phone visit" so I can get bc pills ordered
but they never prescribed any. They got me so distracted, they only scheduled the removal of my implant and now I cant reach them again cause theyre already in another appt :vanora_stunned: UGH
@Totalanimefan:
I tried calling but I can expect a response "in the next couple of days"
In my time dealing with Drs, its hit or miss if they call me back at all.
But then I remembered the website Simplehealth. Did some research, evaluated the pros and cons and really it sounds legit.
I already got approved for birth control on there. $15 per year, $0-7 for the pills (dependent on my insurance deciding to cover it or not) and I get a 3-month dose at a time.
Now to research the pills that they're prescribing, before I approve the order :vanora_xd:
@Totalanimefan: yes. i went with the online website so i could choose more what i wanted instead of going through my insurance and being forced to settle with what was near me. i also like virtual a bit more
@Jolly: thank you~ really excited thought
Should they keep it on display...
I am on 4 different prescriptions for my mental health, on top of birth control and 3 over-the-counter meds.
My prescription meds are partially covered by insurance, so it doesn't cost my dad an ungodly amount. the over-the-counter stuff is for both my sibling and I.

Or redecorate?
@Totalanimefan: yes~ i'm just excited because i was matched with a black woman, which is perfect for me because i'm the same. i may find myself more comfortable to share. i'll be sure to let you know after how it went
@Totalanimefan: yes! I'm hoping so too. Not all black people are the same but generally those from the same cultural/ethinic background can relate to each other. so i'm excited to see what's what
@MaxIsConfused:
Oh man, thats a lot!
I'm real interested in naturopathic methods (within reason), so I avoid medication for my mental health until I explore other avenues first.
Not that any of this is covered/affordable for me right now anyway XD
For now I stick to placebo effects! Like, feeling sad? This soda will make it all go away.
@koneko:
Yeah, I had no idea they would do a generalized screening for mental health. Must be a texas thing. To waggle it in front of me like a carrot, but in reality I still cant afford it lmfao
They do make it sound more extreme than it probably is though. I function!
@Bonnie:
Ohhh thats cool that they can match you with someone like that! That's extra exciting~
I always figured it was pretty randomized. But you said this was an online service? Its also neat that thats becoming more of a thing, because I cant IMAGINE sitting face to face with a stranger like "hi uh... ptsd's a bitch, right?"

i only qualified for health insurance when my dad stopped working, no money was coming in and our only source
to pay bills was from my dad's Social security.
last time i went to the doctor's, my nurse could not understand why my heart rate was high[i was highly anxious]
i said i was nervous and gave me the weirdest look.
a look that said "why would you be nervous??"
bro you could tell me i am dying and i would have no way of even paying for medical bills.

@MoodyB:
Oh dude, I've learned that doctors are like the most non-empathetic humans ever lol
Maybe they need to be for that kind of job. But still!
I hope things are going better for you now. Money really is such a huge source for stress :vanora_cry:
@koneko:
Yeah, I thought it was interesting that they did a screening. Pretty sure I've googled the same survey before XD But its on an official document that I could use if ever I find an affordable help!
But yeah, you're right. Its such a hard thing to attain help. I'm finding that it isn't just mental health help, even physical help is near impossible for me to find in this town! Maybe one day, indeed ;;

@Jolly: weird part is it was not my Doctor but the nurse who was taking my blood pressure and what not.
Though i really dislike doctors just because they were a big reason for when my mom had her stroke.
before it they claimed she was fine and just sent her home and my mom just had this sinking feeling she would see the hospital again soon.
Which she did.
they aren't really much different since then. can't find jobs, still no income coming in, and we need to move ASAP as my land lady
has it out for us pretty much.

@Totalanimefan: i don't know what time zone you are in, but it ended like 40 minutes ago. We talked for an hour so it started one hour and 40 minutes ago!
@Jolly: yes it was like the first website i went to. BetterHelp; you do a little assessment and you can select topics that you want to talk about. they match you up with someone based on what you put into that little assessment. I am excited for it since the first session went well.
@Bonnie:
Ah thats right! I tried looking into betterhelp in the past, but it was still quoting me a chunky price per visit.
I might give it a try once I pay off my car though. Assuming the economy doesn't entirely implode and I lose my wage xd
@Jolly: oh yes it was pricey but luckily i had the funds to move around. i do have insurance but the way my other coverages worked, i had large deductibles so i did not want to pay hella lot my first session. with this i think it was like $260 for a month of therapy which is a little over $60 per session. the thing is, i don't like that you can't pay weekly. with the way my check set up i would love to pay weekly but i had to have it all in one sitting which was hard
@Totalanimefan: gotcha so now i know which time zone LOL. time zones send me into orbit and not in a good way. i get so confused...
@Totalanimefan: yes! Central but that's the thing! when they say Eastern is an hour ahead, i immediately think EARLIER. not later. i cannot retrain my brain....thought conceptually i get that ahead means the day is ending quicker or time is further along but i don't know WHY i think earlier in the day LOL
@Totalanimefan: no you're good! i was busy with work anyway for a few hours LOL!
bloop
Woof yeah I always score high on those and honestly when I saw the thread title I was like “hmmm wonder if that’s the good ol GAD” lmao
I hope in coming years (probably decades if we’re honest) we see some major changes to the mental health care field and it becomes more accessible. I’m uninsured right now but managed to wheedle (beg) another 90 day supply of my anxiety meds out of my provider but I think he’s gonna require an appt and lab work before he gives me any more prescriptions and I’m dreading figuring that out.
I’m at a point where I really can’t function without the anxiety meds. My other medications for other issues I think I could live without but the anxiety disorder is real
